Why not put them in the black part, or on either side of the plate, or up were we wanted them? All 3 of those options can't be outlawed?
If I remember correctly Scott said the reason they weren't in the black area was that they wouldnt be able to withstand the heat of the exhaust.

And either side of the licence plate would be a problem with european exports because the plates are longer than in the states...

I think that the next Z/28 should dump all the extras that we've seen today to lighten the load and then add the LS7.
505 HP with a 3,500 - 3,700 curb weight sounds about right (not to mention attainable) for a modern Z/28.

Bummer.
You need a few winkies on that one Bob.

GT500 = pig at 3920lbs
Camaro SS = not pig at 3860lbs.

ok.

My understanding is that the 2010 Mustang is on a diet. Everyone who has posted, and has knowledge on the subject, says it is supposed to be about 100lbs lighter than the current car. Where and how I do not know.

Is there any planned diet for the Camaro???

That said, GM worked so hard, to evoke the Gen 1 Camaros in this new one............. thus, they need to do the same for the Z28. It needs to be light weight, with the emphasis on handling............ not straightline performance.

Yeah, yesterday's news was bittersweet for sure. But I'm satisfied with the fact they built a solid SS. And on top of that, I kinda knew I wouldn't have been lucky enough to snag a Z28 due to it being limited production. So I'll just have to wait very patiently... and slap on a bunch of mods to make it a GT500 eater...

The beautiful part is GM is offering many of those mods as dealer installed options... and I'll bet installing them won't void your warranty.

Disappointed in the car's weight (less than 100 lbs off the G8). Won't beat on that dead horse any more.

Bob
I would really like to see a N/A 3400 pound Z28 with ~ 400 HP.

As for fighting the GT500, I don't think it's that important right now. But maybe bring in a LSA powered ZL1 down the line.

Is there one in the works or not? I know it's not coming out at SORP, but is it in the plans for the future?

thank you.
Look -- we don't talk about future product plans --

Do you think we'd take a hallowed name such as Z28 and put it on something else???????

HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO SAY IT'S NOT DEAD???????????

Any chance that the Z28 may be "refocused"?

I don't understand why this is so hard for some people to get......someone PLEASE give me ONE reason - just ONE GOOD REASON- why GM would divulge plans for an upcoming Z28 at this point. We were always told the convertible was one year after the coupe and while some (like me) were hopeful the Z28 would be out on day one, the other rumor was it would be out after the start of production. So now we know what the start of production means and what is being released, and obviously a Z28 is not there. Ok....and the problem with this is.........what exactly? The car's coming back guys - enjoy it!!

Father,

I fully understand your frusturation with the reaction to the "Z/28" questions, however I also see the perspective of those repetitively asking the question.

It's obvious - we all have interest in the new Camaro.

Take me for example: I am a GM sports-car driver 4 life. I started with an LT1 Z28, "stepped up" to a LS1 WS6, and am getting ready to move on up once again.

Like others, I waited for yesterday's announcement. Originally, my plans called for me to get into a C5 Z06. But the "buzz" of a factory supercharged Z/28 peaked my interest. As much as I love the Camaro, stepping up to even an SS as a sports car doesn't make much sense to me, already having a 430 HP LS1. However, stepping up to a 500+ HP Z/28 would. That would definitely make me question going with a C5 Z06.

I know not everyone feels the same, but I just wanted to throw out an example. A lot of us don't want to commit to a new SS and thinking we're getting the "big daddy" of the Camaro line only for a Z/28 to come out the very next year. A lot of people just want closure and to see the full spectrum.

I do agree with the "not putting all your cards" on the table aspect, the world of competetive business is not fun and I know that from experience.

Just trying to put a little perspective on things.

Thanks

It's a tough spot. Did Ford discuss the GT500 when they launched the redesigned Mustang? Did they talk about the Bullitt edition? The Hertz edition?

Yes, we're chompin at the bit for a GT500 killer. Part of the pain of the car going on hiatus and Ford staying in the game.

We dont know what will happen. GM is working thru a cash flow issue due to the stock hit it took a few weeks ago. Auto sales are down across the board for all manufacturers. It's a volatile business environment to say the least.

Things can and do change at the drop of a hat.... and the competetion is always watching... so for those reasons and many more, GM wont discuss future product plans. Lutz being the exception, he can and does say anything at anytime... but he's only got one boss at GM, so he can get away with it.

Sorry, I was savin for a 5th gen...Not a big fan of the LS1 birds or camaro. By the way, I'm into low production number cars, not the mint a million and think its special by slapping on a stripe and 4 inch exhaust outlets
