Have A Look

Heres 4 animations I threw together showing how important camera zoom is in showing the angles and lines of the Camaro. I know a lot of people have been saying based on spy shots that they think the front end is to pointy, or at times to flat and there's no front overhang, or that the rear end is to this or to that, etc, etc. The only thing that changes in my videos here is the zoom of the camera, which as you can see can make the car look very different all from the same point of view. The point of all this, is to hopefully, maybe help convince some people that they really need to wait and see the Camaro in person before bashing it to harshly, because the camera, lens, angle and person taking the picture, can really really really play tricks on you. I've included stills if you don't want to watch the videos. Thanks for your time

That's cool, thanks for posting. It really shows the distortions that can come from 'foreshortening'. This is one reason why FBF continues to implore people to see the new Camaro in person before rendering judgements....

Actual pictures (zoom or not) are more acurate than animation. Your dimensions are all wrong (especially around the rear quarter panels and wheel wells). Cool little clip though.

How do you know what the correct dimensions are? How do you know what dimensions Steven used?

You're either a tool, or you know something you're not sharing. Out with it.

Steven's is obviously the concept, not the production version. However it does prove a point... bad camera angles make it look out of proportion... which I believe was the true intent of his post.

I don't think it was to depict accurate dimensions, that isn't the point. This was an exercise in showing how difference in perspective and angle changes the look of the car dramatically...probably to combat the terrible pictures that have surfaced recently that make the car appear uglier than many said it was.

I think this was very well needed and the timing is perfect.

Nice job Steven! BTW, you will probably be getting another e-mail from me this weekend!

THe demisions are the same in those two pictures. The angle and the lens used to shoot them are different.

To clarify, the camera is moving away from the car while zooming in, to show perspective and foreshortening and ultimately to show how much the car can distort in the same amount of screen space, but the car never changes or moves. The point being, with all these different people taking spy pictures with so many different types of cameras, camera phones, etc, the car will almost always look somewhat different, giving the impression that things are or aren't what they seem, if that makes sense.
This the concept model, however the rule still applies, concept or production

Hey Jason, I've been waiting to hear from you again, I need to know what you decided to do about those four new round "things" that you want me to change I'm trying to be cryptic, I don't know if you'll get that, I'm not even sure I get it

This, my friends, is what makes Steven a professional. This is also one of the absolute best ways to prove that everyone needs to

I found a few things out, and I will be sending you all the info, mockups, etc.

For those who are wondering, Steven is THE man who makes the killer 3D renderings for the CamaorZ28.Com die-cast cars and is also the animator and video engineer for the "Bring on the Storm" video.

Impressive

Very impressive Mr. Simply. Awesome pics and it is absolutely what all the chicken littles on the board need to see. Of course, you won't convince them all, but your pics are extremely informative. It never ceases to amaze me what a difference lenses and shot angles make.

Life is so much better in 3D vs in a Magazine or on the web.

So are wine, women and cars.

It is bad enough the ignorent public gets in a panic on a Camaro they know nothing of. It is worse to see those who should know better do the same.

By the way great examples. You have served the Camaro community well.
