GMPP Pricing Info
#16
it is too high. i talked to borla and they gave me thier prices on the catback they are selling and i think it was 1300-1500MSRP. but if you go through a vendor, normally you get a little bit of a break. im going with borla as soon as they get the kits made and on the web page. im going with their long tube headers too.

Take those part numbers and go to www.gmpartsdirect.com
or here to go directly to the CAMARO section http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/results.cfm?specials=1
WAY less than even my dealership employee pricing, and sometimes our COST!

Not sure if anyone has comparable news or information, but I just received an e-mail from my dealer stating catback exhaust is $1010 installed and the engine cover is $305. Anyone have anything similar or remarkably different. It would be interesting to compare the cost of these options installed from dealer to dealer to form a baseline for future negotiation with dealers to get the best dollar value for the additions.
No word on the shorty headers. They have a GMPP part number but no pricing info that he can find.
Anyone have additional GMPP pricing info?

Considering that all you have to do is unbolt a few brand new bolts, slip the old stuff off and slip the new ones on and retighten....I think I'd have to save my $400. Even if they didn't design it as a bolt on replacement, a local muffler shop could swap them for a LOT less than that.

I was just about to mention borla as an option. I have borla cat back on my GM truck, and it sounds great and they hold up through time and punishment. My friend had bassani on his ford lightning, also impressive. I know those two brands are quality. But what about flowmaster, dyno-max, and names in a lower $ category for quality sound?
I checked the camaro builder and liked the performace options, but is it equal to having a gen.II K&N intake, borla headers and exhaust?

I was actually thinking of getting the GMPP shorty headers and catback exhaust... In the sema section of the gmperformanceparts.com show the shorty at 1000$ and the catback at 850$. I really thought this was expensive for a gm part...
However, considering that the price of the catback has an MSRP of 1000$, I don't even want to know what the headers are going to cost.
I might as well wait and get an aftermarket Hooker long headers and 3" catback exhaust, get even more horsepower and torque than the GMPP and actually pay less...
You know... I sometimes think "how can a company such as GM almost go chapter 11?" But then I look at the type of crap they pull out of their butt and it's all clear.
Just like I want to buy a new SUV soon and was considering the Equinox because the 2010 is gen 2 and I thought they would put the LLT in it. But NOOO, of course not. That would actually make sense. What do they do? Put the LF1 which has less power and is actually less efficient. And I don't care about the horsepower, it's all about the torque and the LF1 only has 214 lb.ft.

And keep in mind that most aftermarket kits like Corsa / Borla design and dyno test on that particular vehicle. Yes, you can go to the local muffler shop and have them bend you some ninety inch diameter pipes (slight exaggeration there) and slap some flowmasters on it, but you generally won't get the performance gains that you would from a kit designed specifically for your vehicle.
