GMCard and any other specials?

The concept camaro got me in love with the Camaro nameplate again, so I went apply for the GMcard just for this car. Hopefully GM don't let us down and build this car within 3 or 4 yrs from now.

Anyone else got the GM card with them?

Also is there any other specials out there?

Re: GMCard and any other specials?

I do. I got about 6-700 earned toward GM Vehicles. I dont like the way the billing is set up.

It screws you up when your payment posts and knocks everything down on the next bill. You never know what charges are supposed to be on which bill.

Solution:

Keep the monthly charges seperate and as they are paid post that "paid Thank you!" for that month with a payment date. Dont screw up next months charges!

Been meaning to suggest that on their site but I rarely go there.
Is the GM Card part of GMAC and wasnt that sold? I know its House Hold Bank because thats what shows up on your credit report...

Re: GMCard and any other specials?

I have $3900 pts on my GM Card....and the only possible way those would ever get used is on a new Camaro.

I have a feeling they'll set a cap at $1000 for it though, like they do with most other high-demand models.

I wish I had the OLD GM card, which didn't have caps...you could use all your points.

When your payment is posted has no effect whatsoever on when you next bill is generated.

Payments can be applied at any time. Bills/Statements come out on a regular cycle.

I've had my GM Card since they first came out back in 1992....... never had any confusing billing or payment applications at all. It's no different than any other card the way it is set up.

If you are carrying a balance.... your finance charges are applied at a regular cycle.... this too is totally independant of if and when your payment is posted to the account.

GM Card is managed by Household Bank... do not believe it is directly connected with GMAC, and GMAC has not been sold by GM as of yet.

You totaly misunderstood what I was saying.

Ive never had a bill problem. On the site before the recent face lift you entered in the begining date and end date of charges you want to see. If the billing cycle starts Mar 1 and ends Mar 31 the site calculates it for you. If your payment posts for the previous month during that time it subtracts that amt out of your charges for this month. Ive played with it. Say your pmt posts Mar 8 and you ran your bill from Mar 9 to Mar 31. You would get your charges for the month other than those Mar 1 through 8. Simple Right? Well once you ran it Mar 1 through 31 it sees that Mar 8 payment as a subtraction and now you have your bill for the month minus that payment. You could add that payment back in but then what was the point of it calculating it for you. Ive never seen a site calculating charges like that. It is now set up where you see each month at a time but the payment still posts when it posts and I suspect still deducts like before. It will or at least would give you what you owe but not calculate it correctly. So you would have to know that your billing cycle actually starts Mar 4 and ends Apr 4 for example. Run billing Mar 4 to Apr 4 then subtract out last months payment. So whats the point of their freaking calculator?

The only reason I went there is to figure out GM Card earned bucks.

Irrelevant. I should have specified, I dont like the way the gmcard site calculated the charges when you go to look for the individual charges for verification of what you spent during that billing cycle.

gottcha. I thought I had heard it might be sold a while back but havent heard anything since.

Just went there everythings changed. They show what you owe on each individual transaction with the individual charges. The search function is still there but its a link now rather than a way to try to tally up charges for that month. If you do that now it still takes out the previous months payment but you no longer need to to figure out what you owe.

OK... but you didn't say "their online billing caluclator" anywhere in your post... by just saying "billing" I could only assume you meant the monthly statements.

The calculator for a period is exactly that. It shows you the account activity for the period you enter. It's not meant to just only charges/purchases. It's meant to show all account activity.

If you want to see statement balances... you can pull up past and current statements through their Statement Tab.

I really am having a hard time following what you are trying to say, except that again.. the selectable period feature shows all account activity, and the Statements section allows you to pull up current and past complete billing cycle statements.

OK, glad it is working for you....

GM Card sucks. My Dads a GM Engineer and I get the Employee Discount, but I cannot get GM Card, I have to get a GM Family Value card or some stupid **** like that. It's like 1% and the points last for 7 years I think. Worthless.

Ya, a few years back that stopped allowing regular GM Card Earnings to be combined with GMS.

Still, look at the bright side... you get GMS!

And that 1% on top of GMS is about the best deal anyone will ever get on a new car! ... but, I'd probably opt for a different rewards card altogether if I got GMS, because you can get more from other cards than 1%...

Can GMS be combined with points from the old blue GM card?

Not anymore... GMS can only be combined with the GM Family Card that Chrome mentioned...

You can't use GM Card points on any of the good cars so far; I'm a little worried that you won't be able to use them on the Camaro. I have about $2000 built up.

What do you mean by not being able to use it on any of the 'good cars'?

If you have a new style GM Card, you can use a MINIMUM of $1000 ( http://www.gmcard.com/GMCard/apply/r...allowances.jsp ) on any GM vehicle, except Saturn and Hummer H1 which are excluded from the GM Card except at rare times where they offer Saturn in there as a special.

If you have the old style GM Card, you can use your full amount toward any GM Vehicle (minus Saturn and H1) that you want at any time.

Absoloutely right, I should have stated that. My fault

before they changed it, that was what you used to tally your monthly bills if you wanted to verify individual charges and add them up. That is until you got your bill. The set up they have now is much nicer showing you statement charges for that billing cycle with what you owe for that billing cycle.

However Even now if you want to search for a particular time as mentioned the payment will get deducted on a billing cycle giving you the impression youve paid for something you havent. Its annoying and confusing for just about anything youre trying to do that includes tallying your charges for whatever reason youre doing the search.

OK, now I gotcha

On the main screen when you login, it shows a summary with your outstanding balance, and also a total current due... wouldn't that be what you are looking for?

I can kind of see what you are saying now, though. You want to know what charges are outstanding for a calculated timeframe. I guess it all falls back to the whole idea that the program shows activity and not just charges

Just out of curiosity.... what use do you have for tallying a specific date range of charges only? What would it matter, since the statement cycle isn't going to be based on your custom timeframe anyway?

Re: GMCard and any other specials?

My parents have a GM card. As a 24 year old student that doesn't plan to buy a new car anytime soon, my platinum card with rebate has been pretty useful.
