Finally got to see the 2010 Camaro in person!
Finally got to see the 2010 Camaro in person!
I figured since everyone else has contributed to the likes and dislikes, I thought I’d add my two cents. I am not however, going to make it a long Car and Driver style review; those have already been done. I was able to check out (not test drive
) a Rally Yellow 2LT with a sunroof, and a Victory Red 1LT/RS.
I looked at everything people have previously mentioned as negatives, and to me they weren’t that bad.
Visibility will need getting used to. The interior to me is flawless.
I could go on and on and describe what I loved, but that would be everything.
Now, with the above being said, I scoured over the car looking for something I didn’t like. That was hard. I prefer some things more than others (leather and the RS package for examples) but didn’t find anything shocking right away. Then, messing around I hit the power button on the radio and turned it on. It was awesome, but I noticed something I have not heard about or seen on forums.
The key was not in the car.

I did not have time to research through the owner’s manual, but this struck me as odd that the radio could be turned on without the key in the ignition. Now, it may have a time-out setting, or battery rundown protection like the newer cars; I don’t know. The dealer also did not know. I did ask the almighty oracle (www.google.com) this morning and it turned this thread up: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21727
They are guessing at battery rundown protection as well. If this is the case; I like it. If there is no protection (which I’m assuming there is) I do not, and it would be the only thing (thus far) that I do not like.
Can anyone with an owner’s manual elaborate on this for me?
Bottom line, I love it. The pictures of this car (albeit wonderful) in no way do it justice. “Hey GM! You wanted to do this car right the first time. You wanted to bring back the heritage and still have a unique modern car. Well, you nailed it, 110%. I for one, salute you!”

Oh, so no one will yell at me here are some pics:

so the radio feature is kinda like how the cars have it now , except you dont need the key? now i can put the key in the ignition(with the door closed) and turn the radio on and take the key out and it still stays on until you open the door. so the camaro can be turned on without a key and with the door open? im assuming it turns off after 15 min. like the rest of the cars do, to save the battery.

I think that is very sweet!!
I saw two production 2010 Camaros at my local dealerships showroom yesterday for the first time. A black 2SS and a yellow V6 just like posted above. It was almost an emotional experience. It was like seeing someone you care about for the first time in years.
I was truly on the fence about the car after seeing the pictures and really didn't think some of the styling was for me. After spending about 20 minutes with both cars, I am seriously impressed. This is the best looking car to hit the streets in years. I'll have to drive one, but I liked pretty much everything about the car. It seriously has to be seen in person and gone through to be appreciated. This is not a car to judge without being in its presence. Not since the Third Gens have I ever been so interested in a new car. It might not be perfect, but Chevrolet did a great job on this car, it's a winner. I could see many similarities in it from 1st and 3rd Gens. I really wanna see a red one and an RS optioned car. I'm interested to see how the car will evolve in coming years and will keep hoping for a Z28!

Heritage Chevrolet had it's official Camaro unveiling tonight at 6:30 pm. I guess there were probably 300 people crammed inside the dealership. What was unveiled was a silver 1lt r/s auto. It was beautiful. There was much applause and oooohs and aaaahs. I heard the same thing a hundred times tonight and that was Chevy has hit a home run with this one. I feel the same way. The car looks like quality and it feels to the touch like a quality car. The fellow at Heritage who orders the Camaros said that he and the boss drove it today. He said it was awesome. He said you don't really need the ss. You can pretend the v6 is an ss. He said it is that fast. Anyway, several orders were placed tonight. I probably will place mine tomorrow. Either cyber gray or silver in the 2lt trim with r/s and auto.
On May 6th, Terry Labonte Chevrolet in Greensboro NC had the unveiling of the 2010 Camaro. Terry Labonte was there, the #002 grey w/black strips Camaro was there (owned by Rick Hendricks), A grey w/black strips 1969 Camaro was sitting next to it and they had a black LS to test drive and for sale (guy gave $7,000.00 over MSRP) I heard. Oh yea, and the Camaro NASCAR Pace Car!! Since I bought one, they let me sit in the pace car and crank it. Tempting to throw it in 1st and haul butt!
