Re: DOD cut off

With the way AFM (DoD) works, at least as I understand it, you wouldn't want a "cut-off switch".

No there is not, it sounds the same. It seems like there should be a difference, but there isn't. I KNOW, I DRIVE ONE EVERY DAY. If anything, the VOLUME is down. I can email you a soundclip if you want.

Yeah, but do you drive around with an aftermarket exhaust installed on your vehicle? They have a way of amplifying the way the exhaust sounds. I still think it is going to sound at least somewhat different with a louder than stock catback exhaust. I have said that quite a few times already.

Re: DOD cut off

I'm sorry, you didn't mention a cat back in the quote I used regarding that there will be a change in tone, sorry. I was simply saying that in my experience w/ LSx series engines (this is my 4th, the previous 3 w/ catbacks), the tone you hear at CRUISE is just so low compared to driving w/ a load on the engine, that based on the STOCK sound and volume of the LS4, I just don't think it's going to be an issue. But seriously, you should wait until someone actually puts one on and reports on it before you blow it off. It is a very nice feature, and if the exhaust note was satisfactory to you, why wouldn't you want it?

Scott said that I should put a chambered exhaust on the Impy, maybe he knows something .

I am willing to wait and see I just started this to get some thoughts about it and what everyone thought or knew.

There should not be a switch to defeat AFM.

Re: DOD cut off

Saving money on gas is worth more to me than what the sound of my exhaust sounds like at 80mph in 6th gear when I'm probably listening to the radio anyway.

Does the C6 have an AFM cut-off, or are you referring to the power cut-off on the old LT5s? If the latter, that's like comparing apples and oranges.

The Current C6 has DOD which I assumed the exact same system got transplanted when the LS2 motor was borrowed for the Concept. It was nothing new from my understanding just something that Vette had already. Thats not even comparing different apples. Its the same apple.

Umm, unless I have missed something, the C6 does not have DoD. Or at least, I cannot find anything about it on the Corvette website.

LOl ya beat me to it.

From what I understand, you can't even tell its there. I'm all for it personally. V8 grunt around town yet you can take your Z/28 cross country and get the fuel economy of a 4 cyl. Sounds good to me
