13.4@108mph 4.9 0-60 and 117ft 60-0 braking.
G8GT is a 13.8@102mph 0-60 in 5.3 and 113ft 60-0 braking and its 4100lbs.
the camaro has 60 more hp, more tq, its 250lbs lighter, brakes longer with 4 piston 14" brembos compared to 12.6" std brakes on the GT.
if the GXP gets 400hp and the big brakes, sport suspension etc. a 300+lb sedan is gonna be on par or better with an SS camaro with less hp and 4 doors? anyone see something wrong with that? i hope that info is real LAZY. what happened to the 12.9 1/4's and sub teen 10x ft braking rumored?
stock mustang GT's run 13.5/6 bone stock in the 1/4 with 300hp, ive personally witnessed this.....

Another error is that you are looking at horsepower numbers instead of torque numbers (which will be pretty much identical with the G8 GT).
No one said anything about 12.9 seconds outside of those who fantasized about it. The current LS3 Corvette does the quarter in 12.8, so it becomes ridiculous for anyone to honestly believe a 3500 pound car (let alone a 3800 pound one) would reach the quarter just as quickly with the same engine.
Also add the fact that GM claimed 0-60 in 5.5 seconds on the 2002 z28, 5.3 in the SS. 14.0 @ 103 mph in the Z28 and 13.7 @ 105 mph in the SS. GM gives the times out conservatively. You could look at the Z06 as well Im pretty sure, I don't plan on looking it up. The car is going to perform beyond what they say, relax.
As I already stated in another thread on here...

If anything, the LS3 'Vette is a consistent low-to-mid 12 second car.

Camaro numbers are not accurate........
The C6 Vette comes in at 3200 lbs. compared to a portly 3860 lbs. for the fifth gen SS with a 6 speed and a wopping 3913 lbs. with an automatic transmission ...what happened to that "the fifth gen is going to Jenny Craig" BS that we were being fed during all of the hype and hoopla for the last couple of years...
...with that kind of weight the numbers are not too bad ... I would suspect that the car will be quicker than these early numbers...the LS3 is a strong horse under the hood...real world numbers will be better I'd bet.

I think the bottom line is this.. these numbers are most likely underrated, and they are not likely to be the "official" GM numbers of what will eventually be the cars that will be on the road. I know I've been a negative Nancy with some aspects of the car, and while I can't say I've got a **** eating grin on my face in regards to the numbers released (they don't add up to me), but I'm sure the car will be braking the 12 second barrier with a decent driver and good conditions. Look at it this way.. you can see in the other thread that some Ford guys are pissed that the V6 will be giving their GTs for a run.. by the time the SS is out, they'll be getting murdered. And I'll believe this "feather" of a Mustang when I see it.
It will **** on the Challenger..
It will **** on the popular V8 Mustang..
It will certainly at least be competitve with the 2011 Mustang when it comes out..
And the car looks better than the concept.. yeah, I said it. I don't know what it is, but I actually think it looks better than the concept, and before those pictures leaked this past weekend, I never thought I'd say it.
So, I'm happy.. these will be the longest 7 months of my life. You should be happy too, its certainly better than nothing.

Problem in comparing it with the G8 GT is that the G8 GT is one damn frigging fast sedan, not that a sub-5 second to 60 mph Camaro is slow.

I also don't think people should get too caught up in manufacturer performance numbers, especially for a car that isn't finalized yet. Direct comparisons on the web and in the mags will help flush out what cars will be quicker.
I have a suspicion that the Camaro SS would edge out a 4th Gen, stock for stock, but a lot is going to depend on driver skill and tires especially on the street. Also the Camaro SS should hit a bit lower than 13.4s with tires and skill on a drag strip with that 108MPH trap.
We'll just have to wait and see what the cars really do when they hit the streets.
