Dealership Question
Dealership Question
I recently went down the the Chevrolet dealership and was getting the order in the computer for my 2010, which unfortunately won't be for a while since I waited to long and they have used their allotment. I asked about the RS option and they pretty much told me not to get it, that it was mainly for the LT models to dress them up to look more like the SS2 model so I just decided go with out it.
Just curious if anyone else has heard the same thing. Not sure when my order will go in but I will post up whenever they call. I guess it depends on when they placed their first orders as to when they will get another allotment to order??
Can't wait but I am surely going to miss my 02 Z28 when I trade it in.

Yeh I know what all comes with it. They were pretty much turning me away from getting it. I guess to save their own butts in case I decided to not buy the car when it came. I was just curious if any other dealerships were doing the same.
A dealership turning you off from spending more money is weird at best. There are plenty of dealers out there who still have allocation left; so why wait if you don't have to? There is no reason to be tied to a local dealer for ordering your car- the way YOU WANT IT. Buy it somewhere else and take it for service locally if required. Just my .02
p.s. I would NEVER order this car without the RS package. There is a "known VIN" thread on another board. FYI, 111 out of the 179 VIN's they've posted have the RS package. So don't let the dealer tell you it's something that isn't "common".

Why the hell would they turn you away from the RS package?!?! They are completely wrong about the RS package making an LT look more like an SS. The LT and SS already look basically identical... the differences are the drivetrain, front slot, slightly different front bumper contours, rims and badging. The only difference addressed by the RS package is the rims.
I knew going in there what was in the RS package from reading on this site and was just asking then to see. I was extremely surprised that they highly recommended me to NOT get it. I was a bit confused with his reasoning of why I shouldn't get the RS option but I decided since it was my first car that I'm paying for that I would be ok without it. I just figured they were just looking out for themselves in the long run if in the end I ended up not buying the car for some odd reason.
They didn't require me to put any money down and when it gets closer I will be going in to talk prices which they also said they "didn't" have. But I know for a fact they aren't in the position to jack the price up and risk not selling the car. They have recently downsized staffing.

I think their concern is if alot of people add all these options then back out when it arrives and having it sit in the parking lot with a higher price due to all the extra options. But I only wanted the RS in the beginning because alot of pictures made the Wheels look black but they really aren't. So Im ok without it.
lots of people will want the RS package and pay for it! As long as you know what is included and buy what you want, that's what's important. Don't let someone else make the decision for you.
