Crazy? or Brilliant?
Crazy? or Brilliant?
Here's an idea. Since we are two years away from the Camaro, how about GM put up on the website a color poll. And offer a BIG pallet of colors and let people vote on colors. That would give GM plenty of time to nail down the right colors for the Camaro. That way we aren't stuck with bland Silver or Blah (metalic tan, mucus, champainge color that is on every other frikken car produced now days.) I WANT COLOR. What do you guys think about that? Scott? you listening??
Re: Crazy? or Brilliant?
i think Pontiac did something like that for the Vibe, so it's not impossible. i remember they had a contest to name the colors and i think they had a poll of which was your favorite, but i could be wrong on that last part. either way, i think it's a cool idea and a good way to get your consumers involved
Re: Crazy? or Brilliant?
Problem is, how do you target your poll to the right people, silver and bland metallic tans are so common because people buy them which must mean they like them.
The color choices on GM cars haven't been bad the past few years. The vette colors are always good, as were the choices for GTO.

Re: Crazy? or Brilliant?
I agree that the colors as of late haven't been too bad and I am glad to see GM break out of the traditional color mold like they have with the vette. The problem I can see with the aformentioned color pallet is that I personally have a really hard time determining what color looks good on a car if I can't actually see the car in person with that particular color. When my wife and I bought the Civic recently I think we had agreed on this bluish/sliverish color. When we went in to look at the cars we changed our minds very fast.... it looked HORRIBLE in person. Maybe I am just retarded that way.....
Re: Crazy? or Brilliant?
They could have a large picture of a Camaro that changes colors as you run through the pallet. At least you would have an idea. You are not commited to buying the color, but it would give GM some idea of what color people want on a muscle car. I know there will be Silver and Blah colored Camaros, but why can't there be REAL COLORS too? I bought a new Dodge Daytona in Torred Red a couple of months ago. This color is amazing. Not the burgendy crap, it's a real bright red. And I get the most attention in that car than any other car I've ever owned with the exception of my 68 Firebird convertible I used to own. Color matters. When you see a sea of silver and blah colored cars, a real bright color is a refreshing change.
Except the "black" had better be BLACK. Not that "I wish I was really black" Onyx Black that my '02 got on it
. I mean, if/when the car is wet, it looks not bad. But when it's dry, and in direct sunlight, the car has a "brownish" hue to it!?
It's like it's a "dull" black?!
I also like the idea of more BOLD COLOR
. And say we get LeMans Blue, but that shouldn't mean we can't get Navy Blue Metallic (or something like that) as well
. A couple variations of a color isn't a bad thing.
I sometimes think that the reason all cars are the same ~3 colors nowadays is because not many people ORDER their car anymore?
You show up at the dealership, and take what you get. That's why people need to THEN go and "personalize" their cars, because they all look so damn alike
.
FACTORY stripe packages would be nice too
