The Mustang looks abit scary in the side impact and the front impact. Looks like the bottom of the car comes apart the length of the mustang, and the side crash, the person in the rear seat is going to have a bad day whether they are buckled in or not. The Driver does not look like his day is going to be a whole lot better though.

 

And yet the Mustang gets a better crash rating. It was also posted in the Auto News section of this site that crash dummy data shows less stressful loads in the Mustang than in Camaro, particularly on the legs.

Bottom line, a visual test without any accompanying data is rather worthless. It all depends on how the car distributes energy as it breaks apart, physical damage to the vehicle says little.
