Contacting GM about that Camaro concept...
Contacting GM about that Camaro concept...
I'd love to use your "build the new Camaro" petition to give GM my two cents on the Camaro, but I think 250 words isn't enough to express my feelings. Does anyone know another way to contact them?
And if anyone wants my two cents... let's just say that if GM builds anything remotely looking like that... that thing, and passes it off as a Camaro, I'll buy a used fourth-gen Toyota Supra to spite those bastards. That thing is so ugly, I wondered out loud if the people behind the Pontiac Aztek were behind that thing. Not only that, but the Dodge Challenger concept makes the CINO (Camaro In Name Only) look even more like it deserves to be in a freak show than in my driveway. I saw it up close at the Ft. Lauderdale auto show, and I literally came close to vomiting next to the display. Heck, the Honda Fit on display in the Honda booth looked eons better.
You get the idea.

This is the main way to contact GM and Chevy.
I actually wrote my support letter last week after seeing the concept in Dallas.
GM will follow up your email with a phone call if you'd like as well.
Say something nice and professional if you want to be taken seriously even if you dont like it.
What you just wrote would be ignored. Be constructive if you have criticism for the design.
I completely disagree with you, but I’m not going to say your wrong. After seeing the concept in person I think it’s nothing short of pure sex on wheels.
To each their own….

Heck, even the Toyota FJ Cruiser qualifies.
What I'm trying to say here is that if you go for a retro-flavored design, you don't do anything to it that would make it look like it came out of a sci-fi novel. That's why the Chevy HHR, Chrysler PT Cruiser, BMW Mini, FJ Cruiser, Challenger concept, Ford GT, and to a certain degree the current Mustang (not retro enough, although it does use the '68 fastback as a basis for the coupe design) and the VW New Beetle (I still can't get used to the idea of a front-engined Bug) are so successful. They didn't mess with a classic design. Messing with a classic design is like messing with the Bible: You don't do it and expect no controversy to arise. Why even bother calling it a Camaro?

designs that are radical and inspire emotion tend to split around 50-50.. meaning 50 absolutely love it, and 50 absolutely hate it.. this is good because the 50% that love it will buy it
whereas if you have a "meh" design like the GTO.. you have maybe 30% that love it, 30% that hate it and 40 that don't care.. in this case, only that 30% would buy it
those of course are rough numbers pulled out of my ***, so dont take them too literally

so what your saying is the only true Camaro is the 1st gen.. all those 32 years between then and when the 4th gen went out of production don't exist?
cause a 4th gen doesnt look anything like a 1st gen..
and did you say the Toyota FJ Cruiser is sex on wheels? that thing is butt ugly
Re: Contacting GM about that Camaro concept...
We here at CamaroZ28.com would like to welcome you to this board, it has lots to offer someone interested in Camaros or cars in general. In your next post, try not to sound like such a troll
Re: Contacting GM about that Camaro concept...
The Dodge Challenger in far from "sex on wheels" that thing is bland and uninspired, a blatant copy of the original Challenger, it is a repulsive pig that only the blind and mentally retarded say is better than the Camaro Concept. On top of that the Dodge Challenger was a sad and poorly done copy of a first generation Camaro. So others who say the Camaro looks like a Challenger, actually, the Challenger looks like a Camaro. Uneducated fools.
Your constructive criticism is welcome, but do not expect to walk into a Camaro forum and expect open arms when the first post somebody has is, "the new Camaro is ugly..."

Re: Contacting GM about that Camaro concept...
Funny, what you have to say about the Dodge Challenger concept compared to the Camaro.
When I saw them both in Dallas I thought just the opposite. The Challenger looked so boring and inspirational compared to the Corvette and Caddy design cues in the Camaro.
The Dodge Challenger look like they just smoothed over the lines on a 30 year old design. As a 22 year old that does nothing for me. I see so much more in the Camaro.
But like I said, to each their own. As long as you keep your comments constructive and professional you’re more than welcome to stay.
But I will warn you, we run a pretty tight ship here and trolling is not tolerated.
Enjoy, welcome to the site!

Re: Contacting GM about that Camaro concept...
All I can say is see it in person first.
We just got back from the NY Auto Show, and after seeing the Camaro and Challenger for the second time..... I do like the Challenger, but it is lifeless compared to the Camaro concept.

Didn't the chief designer that worked on the Aztek actually lead the design the 5th gen concept?

I wouldnt expect to be taken seriously the way the above in this thread was worded. If I received it in an email it would be deleted before I finished reading it... That Challenger is awesome but that Toyota looks like lego toys...

Re: Contacting GM about that Camaro concept...
Time to defend my comments...
Okay, but you forgot to factor recent BMW designs into the equation.

Does that "Bangle Butt" look appealing to you?
Let me clarify this one. I think all Camaro generations are true Camaros. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th gen Camaros don't use "retro" styling inspired by the first-gen Camaro, and thus stand on their own merits. This lame excuse for a Camaro clearly drafts off the heritage of the first-gen model: that's what the GM pressmeisters insisted when I heard them after laughing about the fighter jet inspirations.
And the FJ Cruiser... it was never meant to be pretty. It's a retro design inspired by the old FJ40 Land Cruisers, and by and large, it's a great update of the old FJ40.
Like I mentioned in an earlier post, I witnessed this crime against humanity with my own two eyes at the Ft. Lauderdale auto show. After looking at the car and the interior, I'm officially convinced that the only thing they got right was the seats.
And that would be the source of the spite. Supras, NSX's, Skyline GT-R's... Japan can make great sports cars. At least Chevy didn't screw around with the Corvette C6's styling. And the HHR looks cute as well as salutes the '49 Suburban. Why Chevy never got those guys to design the Camaro concept, I'll never know.
This might explain everything. This guy still has a job with GM? Amazing...
I just find it astounding how GM can make good products like the Caddy CTS-V, Corvette C6, HHR and Solstice and yet turn around and make duds like the Monte Carlo SS and Impala SS (whose bright idea was it to have front-wheel drive V8's?), Saturn Ion Red Line, pretty much any minivan and crossover vehicle they ever made, the Hummer H3, and the current Buick lineup. Borderline schizophrenic. Just amazing.

Re: Contacting GM about that Camaro concept...
You do realize that Tom Peters also designed the C6 as well as the Camaro concept and Aztek. All designers have hit and misses. From what I've read the Aztek was a design by focus group that went wrong. Too many cooks in the kitchen.
