Celebrate the holiday -- and an important message......
Celebrate the holiday -- and an important message......
......I'm off to Atlanta in a few hours -- to attend the 10th Annual Fbody Gathering -- and you know, I look forward to this event every year as it allows me to see old friends and meet new ones -- It also allows me to spend time with Camaro/Firebird Enthusiasts -- a great way to find out what they think about cars and trucks and their needs and wants in said vehicles. (... very few of you are shy about your thoughts and beliefs! -- and that's a good thing!)
But as I pack my bags and get ready to head to the airport, I also remember the tragedy that occurred there a few years back when we lost two enthusiasts to a senseless street race.... both young men who died were not wearing a safety belt.
Over 50,000 people will lose their lives this year on American roads -- primarily due to not wearing safety belts. How senseless.
I know I sound like a broken record these days with my constant harping about safety belt usage -- about street racing -- and about drinking and driving. But if it saves one life, I'm glad to be that broken record.
Please -- on behalf of all everyone at GM -- I'm begging you -- please --don't drink and drive. If you're gonna celebrate -- great! -- just make sure you have a designated driver or take a taxi. Don't ruin your life and perhaps many other lives by drinking and then having a tragic accident.
There are safety belts in your car/truck. They're there to save you. Put them on -- and that goes for everyone in the vehicle -- every time, no excuses.
Finally -- as we celebrate, let's not forget the men and women who have given so much to allow us the freedom to celebrate. Take a moment of meditation to remember those who are right now making sacrifices for you and me.
God Bless you all -- and God Bless America!

Hope everyone's was safe.
I think this demonstrates how completely dead things have become here lately - Scott posts, and there are only 254 views in 5 days on a sticky with a title like that?

I think it might have had something to do with the stickys being seperate and not changing recently. I only happened to notice it by chance one day, but that was the first time I even glimpsed up at what was stickied in weeks... I just dont look up there much.
