Camaro at Woodward Dream Cruise?

Guys, I have seen mention at several places that people are thinking the new production Camaro will be making an appearance at the Woodward Dream Cruise in August. It seems like Jalponk (?) mentioned that GM insiders had hinted that to them??? I blew it off the first few times I read it, but am starting to wonder......Anyone else have any clues?

I think it is a safe assumption to make. I won't be surprised to see it there.

GM has made many unanounced sneak peaks at new models at Woodward. Lasy year was the HHR SS. In years past the Camaro prototype, SSR and others have made supise visits.

I would not expect a full disclosure press deal but a drive through with Bob Lutz or Rick Wagoner is not out of the question.

I expect the full disclosure will have to wait till Indy.

It's already been publicized the full reveal will happen before Indy. We were told the plans, but as you know, we cant disclose the info. Sit tight. It'll sneak up on us faster than you think.

Any links to this publicized info, besides what was said behind closed doors at Milford.

asides from the retractions posted on a few forums, no. GM hasn't said anything "officially" regarding the unveil event.

It was made very clear to us the public unveil will be before Indy. Directly from John Fitzpatrick, the Camaro Marketing Manager. That was in response to his reading the posts about Indy being the unveil that surfaced the week before the focus group. He came to us with that info to ensure we cleared it up.

Ok so if Chevy will unveil the car before Indy or whenever will they be putting up production info on the web?
For some of us far from Indy and contemplating spending the cash and time to be at the event only because the Camaro would be unveiled there, if the car won't be unveiled then my interest in the event sinks.

I suspect that's why they don't want to say anything right now. The Camaro club there has a very good relationship with Chevy (isn't Doug Harden involved with them? Can't remember...) I'm sure they want to make sure they snag as many attendees as possible for the event.

I can appreciate the time and money issues. It's difficult to respond to this without getting into specifics. What we can say is Indy will be the first opportunity for enthusiasts to meet and talk with members of the Camaro design and engineering teams.

This is a bit disappointing. I had hoped that Indy would be the first real public event - that was some strong motivation for going.

Oh well.

An opportunity to take a lap around the track and a photo with my car at the infamous brick start/stop line is enough for me.

I remember the stories of those who went to the last F-Car event at Indy back in 2000, and I've regretted not going since. I wasn't going to pass this opportunity up again.

For some reason, I don't think taking a lap around the track in my B2300 pickup is going to do much for my excitement level.

The last pure F-body events I attended were many years ago. In fact, it was Gathering I (an extremely small group) & Gathering II (the first really big event) in Atlanta.....97 & 98. Great times.

I don't know for sure or even if it was mentioned but perhaps it will be the first public event for it, the initial unveiling may be a press-only event? I don't know, just throwing that out there.

Regardless, I am extremely excited about meeting up with everyone at Indy. Bob...don't you owe me a beer?

It must be in honor of the old farts club, because I don't remember either. Or maybe I owe you a beer? Or soda? I dunno...just be there, will ya?
