Camaro racing
Re: Camaro racing
I think you heard wrong. I was watching the latest race last week and the GTO-R and C6-R dominated the Porches. The announcers were in awe and when they interviewed one of the Porche drivers all he could say was how hard it was to keep up with the GM cars and that it would taking nothing short of a stroke of luck for the Porche teams to have a chance.
I then found an interesting article, since the GTO-R deduted middle of the '05 season it won 4 races, placed in 3, and had 2 poles; all of that in just ten races. http://www.theracesite.com/index.cfm..._article=10705

Re: Camaro racing
I've been thinking this one over for a while. There will probably be a racing program for this car eventually because Lutz always a few Road Racing Progams anywhere he goes (BMW, Ford of Europe, Chrysler, GM). My thought now is what series would it go into with the Caddy in the GT series, Goat in Grand Am and Vette in ALMS GTS/GT1 or whatever they decided to call it this week. I don't know how long homoligation is for the Goat but it could possibly replace it there. Personally, I'd love for another Trans-Am series circa late 80's early 90's where there were star drivers and many makes.
Re: Camaro racing
Speed World Challenge IMO is the best series for the Camaro. It's been called the modern day Trans Am series by GM factory driver Ron Fellows several times. Road courses, street courses sprint races against Vipers, CTS-V's, Corvette, Porsche ect ect would bring a sporty image back to the Camaro. The series is getting bigger every year, and by '08 who know where it'll be.
Re: Camaro racing
I REALLY hope they enter the car into a road racing series. It would be awesome seeing a modern day Z28 tearing around a road course against Mustangs, BMW's, Corvettes, and Porsches.
Re: Camaro racing
The cool thing is...
That if it was made into a race car, the car would be for sell to the race teams to buy them. Although they would be very very expensive, they'd end up being very low production. Much like the old ZL1's. They also probably wouldn't be street legal (unless there are loop holes in some states).
I really like the idea of a high power engine, roll cage, and side exiting exhaust.
