Re: Camaro OFFICIALLY Approved by Chevrolet!!
Worst kept secret ever, but it is good that it is finally official.
MY2009....Mainstream Winkie Club appears to have been correct on that one.
2 1/2 years to go.

Awesome is all I have to say! Now at least I know for a fact that I will be able to replace my 2002 Good news indeed! Maybe this will knock down the prices of the 2002s that are still selling for rediculous prices.

A big thanks to Scott who always told everyone to "keep the faith". He is a man of his word.
In reading the press release closely, it certainly appears as though the SS will be the top dog.

Re: Camaro OFFICIALLY Approved by Chevrolet!!
2009 is a bit further than I was hoping for, but oh well it just gives me more time to save my money. That should be the year after I finish school, so hopefully I will be able to afford ordering one as my first new car .

Re: Camaro OFFICIALLY Approved by Chevrolet!!
It's about time!!! I just saw in the paper a couple weeks ago, the CEO for Chrysler corp giving the "green light" to the Challenger. CAMARO ... we need you SOON!!!
Well, if all goes well, hopefully in a couple years I'll be in a position to buy the 5th-gen. Hopefully I won't get hosed as badly as I did on my '02 though?! And this time, I'll be ORDERING it instead of taking whatever was sitting in the showroom (that sounds like fun already ... hmmm, what color? Which wheels? Do I pay the extra ~$10g's for the LS7??)
NOW, we exercise PATIENCE!!!

2009 is fine. I overheard some GM guys today saying hopefully Jan 09, which would be like a late x-mas present. And Ive also heard thru friends that the Challenger wont be out until the later part of 08, so a couple of months wont kill me...You guys had to be there in person, watching the concept roll up while being escorted by the 1LE, it just looked sooo damn mean. arrgghh i cant wait.

Re: Camaro OFFICIALLY Approved by Chevrolet!!
So many people to thank and so many people made it possible, to thank almost anyone would leave someone else who worked extremely hard out of the picture.
Rick Wagoner, Bob Lutz, Ed Welburn, and of course Scott all wanted a new Camaro, and had to depend on a group of others to create a plan, cough up the numbers, do the countless studies, play politics, keep the secrets while others manipulated the system, and others who were down in the trenches. A company like GM, the CEO, Product Vice Chairman, and other higher ups simply can't say we're going to have a Camaro without having an overwhelming case and perhaps political manuvering and lobbying that would do congress proud.
But I will throw thanks to some groups and a couple of people that haven't been mentioned and would otherwise be ignored.
GM-Holden's former CEO, Peter Hanenberger:
Gave approval to the Holden Monaro. Without the Monaro, we wouldn't have gotten the GTO, which layed the groundwork for Holden to become GM's RWD "homeroom".
General Motors Holden LTD:
For developing a platform and modular manufacturing process that made Camaro financially feasible.
The leadership of the Canadian Autoworkers Union:
For cleverly walking the thin line between enraging those layed off when Ste Therese closed & avoiding the appearence of caving in to GM. The CAW leadership was more receptive to GM's plan to move jobs to Oshawa & close the F-body's Ste Therese plant than they could let on. Once GM tore down the plant & GM lived up to their agreement on pensions for those who weren't reassigned elsewhere, they had no objection to GM using the Camaro name on something else. They could have used it as a weapon during negotiations, but they didn't.
Yep. Question's answered. It's not going to be Wilmington Deleware.

It's a good day.

Re: Camaro OFFICIALLY Approved by Chevrolet!!
If the offer a LS7 in that car, I WILL GET THAT OPTION--no questions asked.
Since the car is 2+ years off from being made, I just have a feeling it will be something more than a LS2.
