Camaro Doesn't Make the Big C&D Cover (March 2006)....
Camaro Doesn't Make the Big C&D Cover (March 2006)....
But, the new 911 Turbo does. The Camaro Concept only gets a small pic. on the top of the cover of the March 2006 issue. Inside only a small article about the unveiling shared with the Pontiac Solstice GXP, with the standard photo that we all know and the concept interior drawing.
Now, I wonder how Motor Trend and Road & Track will treat the Camaro Concept.

Re: Camaro Doesn't Make the Big C&D Cover (March 2006)....
that doesn't sound like C&D I know... it would have been nice to have the concept in big huge print for everyone to see. it IS the best selling auto mag in the world.
Re: Camaro Doesn't Make the Big C&D Cover (March 2006)....
Across the top of the cover "Detroit show preview: New Camaro Shocker!"
I am hoping that maybe they are waiting to actually get there hands on the Camaro, and do a more in-depth article, maybe this spring when they can take it to a track under the watchfull eye of GM.

Yeah. The bad part is, it's going to be one of those things where if they actually get to drive it they can only drive the car about 25 mph since it is a one-of-a-kind prototype.

You'd think it would be a ripe time to show a cover with the Challenger, Camaro and Shelby GT500 all lined up with a headline something like "Pony Car Showdown: Dodge, Chevy and Ford flex their muscles at NAIAS."
But hey, I'm no magazine editor...

Re: Camaro Doesn't Make the Big C&D Cover (March 2006)....
I learnt a long time ago that magazines can be overly harsh in their criticism of certain products that have nothing much to do with the car's intended purpose or its consideration of the target audience. Therefore, why would anybody care about the way a magazine is edited?
Re: Camaro Doesn't Make the Big C&D Cover (March 2006)....
Automobile mag had the red camaro concept as the star cover car on the current issue . Best magazine pics Ive seen yet of it . They represented it VERY well from all the pics they showed . That mag always has pretty awesome pics though , so that doesnt surprise me .
Re: Camaro Doesn't Make the Big C&D Cover (March 2006)....
Car magazines have different lead times for different sections. Typically, the "futures" section is the last thing completed.
Another thing to consider is that we all here were WAY ahead of the curve as far as knowing about the Camaro unveiling. There were even people here on this site with the "believe it when I see it" and "I'll wait till I hear it 'officially' before I take it seriously" attitude. Some car mags take the same view.
Finally, at press time, the only thing available to some car mags were the computer generated Camaro drawings (none of the car magazines are posting actual pictures of Camaro's unveiling because it couldn't make press). Also, Camaro details were non-existent till unveiling day.
Camaro was unveiled and info just came out 3 weeks ago. The March issue of most car mags were put to bed between Christmas and New Years. Don't be too hard on them.

I didnt get a chance to look through the whole magazine, but I didnt see ANYTHING on the new Camaro in the new Motor Trend. BUT they had huge sections on the Chrysler Imperial and Dodge Challenger.

I think you'll see the new camaro on the cover of magazines more when it's actually getting produced. Right now, as far as the mags are concerned, it's just a concept. There's no gauruntee of what the car will be like once it makes it to production, including drivetrain, price, and option levels.
