I've seen it a couple of times and the first time I saw it I was undewhelmed because we're all anticipating the new national ads and this particular ad is a regional ad put together by the Southern California Chevrolet Dealer Marketing Association which is why it directs you to socalchevy.com and not the main Chevy site. I don't even think it was in HD if I remember correctly. It was just some b-roll footage with the SS model chest pounding mentioned above. That's the part that made it cooler than the national ads that have been touting the V6 to this point. That's about to change, however. There are new national ads currently or soon to be in production.

Just looking on youtube there are some cool ads out there.
This one is for the V6. Halo's look a bit more blue than what I've seen on the real thing.

Looks like Chevy of Mexico has their act together in this Camaro SS ad.

Not a Camaro ad but still very cool. 2011 Corvette, America still builds rockets! -ZR1

That really only seems to apply in the 1980's. Qualtiy control, TSBs, etc have taken the place of a lot of "1st year bugs".

The 2004 GTO's had a bunch of ECM problems among other things, but the GTO was "special" to say the least. I pretty much agree with you that first year cars have gotten better, but I also play it safe and wait one model year .
