Camaro Back Order up to 19,000

Meanwhile, Oshawa's GM plant is enjoying a renaissance with a huge demand for the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro, that, by far, is outstripping supply. According to a report, the back order for the new Camaro is up to 19,000, with a three-month waiting list. Once it hits peak production, the Oshawa plant will be producing 2,200 a week.

Yikes. Much more than I thought. I know that some dealers here have them on the lot, though.

One of the local dealerships has 18 in stock! 6 of them are SS models. They keep buying them up from everyone around, other states included. So unless you are willing to wait, you will pay an arm & leg for one!

I was at my local dealer today picking up a part we needed and they had a 50/50 ratio of V6 models to SS. Then I saw they had a 2009 Vette selling for $39K.

It wasn't until about a month ago that I saw my first 2010 Camaro around here. I kept hearing how many were sold and all but it wasn't until I took my Cobalt to the dealership a month ago that I was able to finally sit in one. I didn't like it much. I loved the exterior but inside was fugly.

My local dealership has 5 on the lot, four of which are SSes. On my way to work today, I saw a car carrier with two more on it, at least one of which was an SS.

I wonder if those are 19,000 sold orders, or if they're just fulfilling allocation.
