The Camaro That Almost Was (article)

clicky

Call it the Camaro that almost was. The pony car that shook up this year's North American International Auto Show was really the result of a top-secret shoot-out between some of General Motors' top designers.
It is a good read...enjoy

Wait, didn't Scott say the red car was fiberglass? The article suggests that it was a painted clay. Makes you wonder how much is true and how much is fabricated.

I think they used the clay to make the fiberglass

Agreed, however the story claimed the LA car was a painted clay. Anyone looking at the car, knows that isn't the case.

Re: The Camaro That Almost Was (article)

Chris' drawing for the PHR article (made from descriptions of people who saw it) evidently was the original design.

The last 3 sentences should be read over and over.

they showed how the concepts were made...

they made the clay model then made fiberglass overlays and put them onto the concepts... very simple... you should watch the camaro concept video...

you mean these?????

Will the design still hold up in late 2007, the soonest it could likely hit market?

"We do need to move very quickly" towards making a go/no-go decision, Welburn stressed. So it's likely the Camaro's fate will be decided by the middle of this year.

Yeah maybe they can get everything in gear in the speed that Solstice was supposed to be in (18 months). Itd be real easy if they didnt have to make everything from the ground up like the Pontiac/Saturn guys had to do.

Re: The Camaro That Almost Was (article)

Just who exactly will be making the "go/no go decision", and what can be done to ensure the decision is a go?
