ugh....seriously, the title of the forum is 2010 Camaro Fourm. We know.
And for the OP, to cut you off at the pass when you finally get around to looking at pictures, the headlights on the preproduction cars you see in the spy shots are NOT going to be production.

Not wanting a short model run of 09s is a pretty dumb excuse considering how wildly popular the short model run 08 challenger is. Not to mention a '10 camaro is 5 (model) years behind the retro mustang, and 2 (model) years behind the retro challeneger, just making GM look that much later to the party. Especially when the '10 mustang is rumored for a redesign/refreshing. I can see the mag headlines already, "2010 pony cars: retro camaro goes head to head vs. the *new* modern mustang"
On the flip side, by having a LONG model year run for '10, they can generate a larger total cars sold number (serveral of camaro's best sales years were extended model runs), and maybe make it compare more favorably to mustnag's sales figures. Could be an important tool for fighting bean counters in the company to keep it around.
It's cool. We finally are starting to get more info than can be captured in a few minutes. People will naturally overlook things, nothing to jump on people over and we should start getting used to it happening. No big deal, though.
I merged the two threads together.

Seriously Guys, He admitted his oversight and apparently has a good sense of humor as well... I don't think its necessary to go all Howard Dean '04 on him!
I don't see why releasing it as a '10 model instead of a '09 model is a plus? If anything it's just more bull**** naming. If it's built in '09, it should be the '09 model. Same with '10 or '08.

The more i think of it, the more i'm sure this is being done so they can boast how the '10 camaro outsold the '10 mustang, while ignoring the camaro had a 6+ month longer model year.
It's the only remotely logical reason i can come up with. Has there ever been a car released in Q1 of the calendar year prior to it's model year?
