CAFE reaction?
Canadian 09 G8 Pricing
** mis info - sorry didnt know canuks where getting screwed**
While I'm not one to start the whole sky is falling thing with cafe.. If the following becomes a trend, I will shop some late model's instead of a new car... and the question that begs.. is this a possible lead in for the new camaro...
The new 2009 G8 has risen in price.. by an outrageous ammount..
2009 3.6 V6 G8 = $31,995
2009 6.0 V8 G8 = $36,995
Thats a $7,000 increase over the 08 V8 and a $4,400 increase for the 08 V6...

You missed THE MOST IMPORTANT part...
Oshawa, Ontario (April 29, 2008) – A rear-wheel-drive Pontiac performance sedan will once again be seen on the streets of Canada. The all-new 2009 G8 arrives in Pontiac dealerships in June. The V-6-equipped G8 performance sedan has a starting MSRP of $31,995 and the V-8-powered G8 GT model starts at $36,995.
Ok, so that makes no sense, with the US dollar almost even with the Canadian dollar, the Canadians get ripped by 7 grand? I thought this might be indicative of US pricing since the US pricing hasn't been released yet, but if its just canadian gouging, hmm...
The Canadians have been getting gouged by all mfg's for many many years, even on vehicles produced there.
With the mustang V-6 still holding under 20K a 30K+ v-6 camaro, no matter what the HP is, would be a TOTAL failure.

Yep, we get bent over on the prices of pretty much everything
. And then pay lots in sales tax on top of that!
But we have "free" (kind of / sort of) health care
. (free = everyone pays taxes = everyone gets equal health care when you walk into a hospital)
But that's besides the point!
Actually, ~$32k & ~$36k for the V6/V8 G8 is pretty "good", considering!!
My 2002 Z28 was $38k. Seven model years later and a car of similar platform is about the same price? Not too shabby!!
(although it's STILL artificially over-priced
)

)I would gladly tell our government to take their BS heathcare, cut my taxes in half, and then use that money for private insurance..... Heck, with half the taxes taken off my pay, I could have extra to even cover leasing a new car !!!
The only possitive about paying way more over the U.S. is that I can buy my Camaro down south come March 2009, drive it for a year, then sell locally for the same money I spent.... come to think of it, I could actually get a new car every year this way

I have been ranting and raving about the disparity for some time now...
Thing is the GM folks on this site don't seem to want to comment on the issue...which is understandable, I don't like being put on the spot either.

Well...let's see how it plays out...I for one am calling on all Canucks to boycott the car if we see a huge discrepancy in prices...yeah I said it!

Keep the healthcare...lose the waste.
Well..... free healthcare ?? Not really.... I had to get an MRI done a few years back, the wait time was 6 months, but when I told them my company has private insurance, I had the appointment within a week.....

Actually not a bad idea if you want to flip your car every year!
