Per Michael Bay: these are maquettes build of styrofoam and are used for non-shootable situations. The BumbleBee one is about 40% finished. These maquettes where from January of last year.

No. Megatron is a Cybertronian aircraft of some sort. That picture with the lower torso that looks frozen in ice? That's half of him. He gets to earth first, apparently many years ago, around the 40's or 50's or something, and is sucked into orbit and crashes into the ice, deactivating him. Humans find him, disassemble him, attempt to copy the technology (which is where some of our tech comes from...the movie explains this stuff), and generally tinker with something they shouldn't. He is never reformatted into an earth form in the movie. He's reactivated near the end, and pretty much owns everybody.

The Mustang police car is Barricade, and the screenwriter described him as the Decepticon equivalent to bumblebee, only more powerful, evil, and more of a hunter than a scout.

Hey BP. Nice to see you over here as well. Man, I hope we get a "Bumblebee" edition Camaro with autobot badgin under the "Camaro" badging on the side. That would be awesome.

Chevy was very smart in their product placement here.

Hey Primus. I'm EVERYWHERE. Used to have an 89 IROC, with a 96 vette engine, tranny, and a beefed up rear end, so I'm ecstatic about a camaro transformer.

I hope we can get an autobot edition Camaro. I'm sure we'll have the option of that paint job, at the very least. Mine's going to have a big fat autobot symbol in the rear window.

Re: Bumblebee Camaro pic in Robot mode!

I'm not sure I care much for the robot mode...

The G1 Transformers were much more interesting with their chestplate being the entire hood/frontend of the car and such.

Having the front bumper of the Camaro be split the way it is across the chest I don't care for at all.

As someone on that site mentioned, the originals (and most all I've ever seen) have more car 'chunks' than that image.

Re: Bumblebee Camaro pic in Robot mode!

the look of the robots for the movie is very different, it'll take some getting used to.. but i prefer that over the "blow up" feet etc that the animated "beetle" bumblebee has

Well, that was a cartoon. That would not be an issue in the movie. They could keep things in proper perspective if they wanted. Attention to detail is much stronger now. Even in the newer cartoons.

Re: Bumblebee Camaro pic in Robot mode!

The preview is not supposed to be any part of the movie. It is simply a teaser.

Re: Bumblebee Camaro pic in Robot mode!

No. The name of the Mustang police car is Barricade. It was officially announced via a podcast on yahoo by the screenwriters themselves 2 days ago. Brawl was a stand-in name to keep the character secret.

Also, the Sikorsky helicopter (who looks AMAZING) is not named Vortex, or Incinerator. Those were both placeholder names as well. His official name is Blackout. "Devastator", the tank, was a placeholder. HIS final name IS Brawl. The 4.5 foot tall character who turns into an audio device of some sort (boombox or Xbox 360, they haven't clarified yet, but we know he ends up looking extremely spindly and insectoid due to having to stretch out to be 4.5 feet tall) is NOT soundwave. It's Frenzy, who was one of Soundwave's minions in the original. Soundwave is not appearing in the first film. The mine clearing vehicle is Bonecrusher, and of course the Scorpion, which tunnels under the sand and lays waste to an entire US military base in the middle east, is Scorponok. He has a robot mode, but they might not show it in the film.
