Bumble Bee Transformer a Camaro?

So the Moderator can move this if he pleases, but the strangest bit of Camaro news in a while can be found here:

http://www.transformerslive.com/boar...ead.php?t=2783

If you are in your 30's and remember the cartoon Transformers, you might be surprised to hear the rumour that "Bumble Bee" who was a yellow VW bettle, will "transform" into a Camaro for the live action film set to be released next year.

THIS IS ALL RUMOUR.

Someone speculated the car would be the new 5th Gen.

You have got to be kidding me. Look at those message boards...can you imagine debating a line of 80's kids toys and cartoon, and the possibility that you're accused of being, say, an Optimus Prime "fanboy"?

Can't imagine Chevy signing off on that one.

They are filming that movie here at Holloman AFB... or at least parts of it. Must be CGI mostly cause there isn't much here to look at. Nothing related to the tranformers themselves at least as far as I can tell around here. Just set work I guess.

Well... As much as I'd hate to see the character Bumblebee as anything but a yellow VW, I would love to see a transformer Camaro. Did you know that in the history of the Transformers, the only thing remotely like a Camaro was a spanish knockoff called "Camaro" Other than that, the only pony cars were the "Alternators" figures Wheeljack and Grimlock who are 05 Mustangs, and one is a repaint at that!

Wasn't Grimlock orginally a Dinobot?

Lord I feel old, I used to watch that cartoon series as a kid. Was one of my favs.

Yeah, I kicked myself when I saw Grimlock as a Mustang of all things...

On the plus side, the product lineup has a couple C5 Corvettes

Admittedly I'm a HUGE Tranformers Fan.

Yes, there are Message Boards for everything actually.

From the sound of what the rumors are, they could likely ruin the Transformers mythos if they change many of the vehicles/objects from what they were in Transformers G1 (Generation 1)

Bumblebee would be ridiculous as anything other than a VW Bug. Megatron as a Tank? They did it for G2, but Megatron will always be a Walther P38 to a real fan.

What do they mean by Soundwave (my favorite Decepticon) being " (bastard version - a.k.a Kennywave)"? He sure as H3!! better be a cassette deck with Rumble, Ravage, and Lazerbeak! Devestator is a tank? How can they ruin the very first Gestalt Transformer formed by the Constructicons? Not to mention Scorponok, I have him in my attic. They say his new alt-mode is a 'minion'? How can they bastardize the Decepticon Headmaster Commander???

They state the Autobot Matrix of Leadership is called an 'Energon Cube'? They obviously know nothing of the Transformers. And Energon Cube is a unit of fuel for all Cybertronians. The Matrix of Leadership is just that (also known as the Creation Matrix).... They need real Transformers Fans to head that movie obviously.

Yep, I own every season of Transformers G1 as well as Beast Wars on DVD. Oh, let's not forget nearly every issue of the comics. They still make them actually And I was VERY excited to hear they were making a new movie.

Oh, yeah, there's like 6000+ comics in my basement. LOL More added every month.

So, yeah, I guess I'm a big Transformers Fanboy. Definitely a child of the 80's (31 years old) here.

Thanks to the person that posted that link, I will definitely be spending some time on that site. I knew they were making a live action Transformers movie due out next year (yes it will be heavy on CGI) but hadn't thought to look up a site like that for info.

It's funny, I'd considered mentioning before that in the newest Transformers comic, Runamock and Runabout (Decepticons) are 4th Gen (98+ model) Camaro's.

There was a 3rd Gen Camaro toy back in the early 90's. I have it somewhere...

Fanboy rant over.

Hot Rod kind of looked like a 4th gen F-body.

Re: Bumble Bee Transformer a Camaro?

But Hot Rod aka. Rodimus Prime came about in 1984 when the first movie was made. Granted it took place in 2005 when plenty of 4th gen F bodies would be around, some with such a ridiculous spoiler as he had, but I don't think Hasbro intentionally set out to have Hot Rod resemble the 93-02 Camaro

Edited in:
According to Latino Review, Bumblebee is supposed to be a 2nd gen, rather than our new beloved 5th gen. The rumor I saw on the message board was that VW wasn't keen on having their 'cute' beetle turning into a robot, blasting the heck out of the decepticons. Here's the link to the supposed review of the script:

Yeah I know, he just reminds me of a 4th gen in some ways.

Actually, Hot Rod was introduced in 1987 when the movie was released, not 1984. The Transformers were initially introduced in 1984. I was all of... 10 years old. LOL Just the age group Hasbro was aiming for. And man did they hook me BIG. Almost 22 years later I love Transformers.

Hot Rod became Rodimus Prime when he accepted the Matrix of Leadership in the movie, but reverted to Hot Rod near the end of the 3rd TV Season when Optimus Prime was resurrected and again led the Autobots.

I'd have no problem having a big vinyl Decepticon insignia on the hood of my new Camaro. I may have to look into at least a small one somewhere.
