Re: Article from Forbes.com on Camaro & Challenger
I'm not saying that a new Camaro is the wrong thing to do, just that the project needs a closer look.
Like the Mustang, the Camaro project would also offer a six-cylinder version that would run, say, $24,000 like the Mustang six-cylinder entry model.

"I will say that from my conversations with GM people, this Camaro looks like a "go,""
I think that would be my favorite portion of the article. lol

Re: Article from Forbes.com on Camaro & Challenger
Is this guy supposed to be an expert? A Mercury version of the Mustang? Come on. I honestly can't see Ford making a profitable niche for a new Capri.
Guess this guy never noticed the sales numbers for these cars in the 80s.
Since when do ricers like muscle cars?
The guy says that the Challenger would be easier to pull off because it shares it's underpinnings with current cars, but criticizes the Camaro, saying that GM needs to focus elsewhere... on cars that would use the same chassis! A parallel development seems likely, and would be a money saver in the long run.
Such cars were quite popular in the 1960s and early 1970s but then fell out of favor due to rising prices--for the vehicles, gasoline and insurance--and the growing popularity of sports sedans and sport utility vehicles.
Muscle cars are the darlings of the car magazine writers and the "boy racer" crowd

A lot of the arguments are a little off the mark in the article, lacking a lot of explanation and detail. But yeah, there's risk. This is the auto industry--unless you're making Camrys or Accords there's always risk!
