Cool Any word on a Supercharged or LS7 model?

Has anyone heard anything about a Camaro beyond the SS? I hear Dodge is
kicking around the idea of a 525 hp., 392 Hemi Challenger and the Mustang GT500KR
is already at 540 hp. If anyone reading this works for GM, WE WANT HORSE-
POWER!!!!!! 550 Supercharged HORSEPOWER!!!!!! 0-60 in LESS THAN 4 seconds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE

This has beed disccused at length. We all want a 550hp 5th gen. That includes enthusiasts, the Camaro team, and even Bob Lutz.

There were reports a supercharged 5th gen was cancelled. Fbodfather has adamantly stated "it's not dead". Aside from that, GM has been mum on the issue, as they dont typically comment on potential future product offerings.

Fact of the matter is if GM doesnt do it, there are plenty of aftermarket companies drooling at the opportunity to fill that void. Even companies like Rousch and Saleen are likely to jump into the fray.

I'm either waiting for an SS with HUD or a LSA powered Z28. (If we learn the Z28 is still a "go" by the time HUD arrives, I'll wait a little longer... if not... oh well.)

No supercharged Z/28 for me thanks. I'll take mine with an LS7 (or future equivalent), upgraded suspension and lighter weight. A heavier, force-fed Camaro isn't a Z/28 to me.

YES!!

Z/28, ZL1, Berlinetta , don't care what it's called, as long as it has an LSA with 556hp and costs no more than $45,000, without a doubt, I WILL BUY ONE.

The further down from the 556hp mark and more than $45,000 it costs, the more I'll consider a C6 Z06 or new C6 or C7 (depending on release date).

I think the Aftermarket may be a CAFE work around... Honestly I would perfer NA but Id take super charged if it made sense. I voted for it but if it could be accomplished without it I would perfer that.

Im liking the SS LS3 NA

435hp, 3600lbs, and stiffer suspension. Better mileage, better handling, and a bit faster in a straight line.. thats what I want, I have absolutely no interest in a bloated 550hp pig.. Everyone keeps thinking higher HP numbers, we've been there before and it didn't work.. Why not set a new trend instead of blazing that which has already been done. Lighten the car it will make it alot faster than adding more HP!

Heh, how about this? Lighten the car, use the same V8 engine, but add SIDI and VVT to increase power and torque everywhere. It would perform better in every category including fuel economy!

I am waiting for the blower motor. Thats what I want. If it doesn't come out, I will be waiting a long while to get an SS. Probably when I am bored with with my LS7 SS and want to hop in a slower car, which will be like, never.

If they do not put out a model thats bests or at least tie's the GT500 perfomance I will lose great respect for GM and seriously rethink purchases. I for one, will not listen to F*rd and whatever else guys keep laughing that our "top car," which is currently only an SS, can't hang with the competitor. If they don't come out with a Z28, the new Camaro will be the subject of many jokes, no matter how good the V6 car is. A Camaro needs that model with the destroyer image, the V6 and SS don't get that done.

Do I want it to be S/Ced? That's another story.

I doubt that a weight advantage of (a hypothetical) 500lbs lighter would make up for a (hypothetical) 121hp disadvantage in a straight line.

As far as people hung up on referring to it as a "bloated pig", I think a lot of people are assuming it will handle like cr@p just on account of weight. Hell, the magazine articles from the last few days are saying the Camaro out handles and "feels" better than the Mustang even though the Mustang weighs 400lbs LESS. So much for engineering not being able to compensate for weight.
....and to that I give a big

I WILL give you better mileage, but do you think that if someone was in the market for a blown and likely more than $40,000 car they'll care about fuel economy? Me? I could care less. I would think the impact on CAFE would be limited as the number sold in comparison to the V6 would be small.

And one more thing......

While I agree with what you propose for a Z/28. The fact is it's far easier/cheaper to add hp than drop weight. Not to mention that an increase of 10-15hp can make up for 100lbs of weight increase in acceleration.

Anyone that thinks a production LS7 could be done at this point needs to have their head examined.

Its LSA or nothing.
