I just have to say that I really, really like this part from page 14 (COMPETITIVE MODE AND LAUNCH CONTROL (V8)), even though I ordered an A6.

First the disclaimer...

Note: Competitive Mode and Launch Control are recommended only for use during closed track events and competitive driving venues. See your Owner Manual.
Yeah, yeah...now for the cool parts...

Competitive Mode
Competitive Mode is an optional handling mode.
• To turn on the Competitive Mode, press the StabiliTrak/Traction Control button
twice quickly. Competitive Mode will be displayed in the Driver Information Center.
• Press the button again to return to normal StabiliTrak/traction control operation
Launch Control (V8 with Manual Transmission)
Launch Control is a form of traction control that optimizes wheelspin while launching the vehicle. It is activated when the vehicle is at a standstill while in Competitive Mode.

When the accelerator pedal is pressed to the floor with the clutch engaged, the RPM is limited to a predetermined level. Releasing the clutch while keeping the accelerator pressed to the floor provides controlled wheelspin and acceleration.
At least it sounds cool.

It does sound cool, but I saw somewhere the 1/4 time was 4/10 slower while using the launch control. It was in one of the reviews. Thanks for posting this information on all of the features. That way when I pickup my car I can show my salesman how everything works.

I believe one of the tests said it held 4,000 rpm until you dumped the clutch.

Any owners manual that tell me to hold the gas pedal to the floor and dump the clutch is way cool by me!

I can see that being of great assistance at autocross where start line conditions vary dramatically. On a well prepped drag strip not so much.

aw man, it has the 1-4 skip shift too

I wonder if using the Launch control feature voids your warranty like in the GT-R

Thanks for posting this Jason

I absolutley cannot believe that this car comes with a 2-step rev limiter from the factory. Holy crap.

Interesting! Thanks for the post. Still no "no lift to shift" info though.

Launch control and a different set of parameters for the stability control.

I can't think of anything it could be in the suspension. There isn't anything in the factory suspension that's adjustable without getting out of the car and putting a wrench on it.

Installing the Pedders suspension will probably affect the effectiveness of the launch control and stability control, since it will alter the car's handling characteristics. That said, don't get too concerned, because it might affect it for the better.
