3000 Camaros ordered this week...

This is true, but I wonder how many Camaro orders there would have been had the opening of the order bank been promoted on a top rated television show? The Solstice was hyped like crazy on The Apprentice.

Did they talk about it during commercials for My Own Worst Enemy? Agreed though that Apprentice was a major factor in those orders. Plus it was specifically for the first 1000 Solstice.

Are the production numbers limited? Just got back from the local dealer, and was told that they are only alloted 5 camaro's from Chevrolet, and that that is all they are going to get. If this is true, it is pretty disappointing that GM finally has a car that people are excited to buy, and then is only producing a limited number. Another dealership in the area wants 10k over MSRP, just shook my head and walked out.
is this what everyone else is running into?

Damn, I wish I had known ahead of time. As it stands, I'm first at Weber Chevy at Olive and 270. I don't want to give up my spot.
I'm sure the dealership will be pissed at me, but I called Chevy customer care looking for answers to their ordering problems. The dealer tells me that they called a number of local and non-local dealers and they are having the same issues. I just don't understand how that can be the case. Chevy customer care took all the info and said they would open a ticket to find out what Weber's problem is, but we'll see.
If I don't have some answers soon I may ask Weber to contact Don Trunko but I'm sure Don Trunko and everyone else that's getting confirmation numbers are using the quick order through order workbench. For whatever reason, Weber doesn't want to use that method and they only want to order via the standard ordering method.
I just find it ridiculous that I'm put the in the position of having to contact Chevy to get Weber's ordering issue straightened out.

So far our numbers arn't too far behind, but I would guess that it has something to do with a lot of dealers saying markup right off the bat. The number of dealers that used to say "yes" to the old MSRP question are now changing there tune. Also add that in general car sales are down.
Either way sales of the challenger have slacked off (but still selling). 09 challengers are being had at below msrp and have been since julyish (when not even all of the 08's had been delivered). I see the camaro going the same way.

2009 Challengers are all over the place and being discounted, Mustang sales are off 50% and Chevy dealers want over sticker for the mass produced Camaro. I turned one down here in Michigan for supplier discount.

3,000 Camaro's is good news. Thats only like .75 per dealership, though. I believe there are 4,000 chevy dealers, but maybe thats an old figure. Hopefully this will give GM a little boost. I saw a '10 camaro on ebay. 12 bids to pay $10,000 OVER MSRP!!! Insane. Why would ANY ONE be so stupid.

I saw someone selling a PDF of Camaro information for $20...emailed. Those same PDFs are here on this site for free. Oh well, it is not like we never saw this coming.
Before you open your wallets, folks...do some research here and make sure you are not spending more than you need to!

IMO thats not bad. IIRC they only expect to sell 100k/year so thats 3% sold before they even hit the showrooms. The majority of buyers won't pull the trigger till they can sit behind the wheel and take it for a spin...
