I made that mistake with my 95 Z/28 when I purchased it. I was 30 at the time and wanted affordable payments. The dealer talked me into leasing for 3-years then financing for another 5-years to pay off the residual. Never again!

In hindsight, I could have bought a slightly used black on black Z/28 M6 convertible (5k miles on the clock) from the same dealer. I balked because I want a "new" car and with the top down I thought the vert looked like the batmobile.

If when pricing comes out on the ZL1 I see that I can't afford the payments; I plan to punt and buy a used SS.

Re: 2012 camaro pricing released!

buying out a lease is never really the smart way to own a car. in my situation buying out my lease is a no brainer and the best thing ive probably ever done. but leasing a car is leasing a car. you dont normally lease to own in the end. if you want to own the car finance it for 5 or even 6 years.

Good things come to those who work hard, constantly try to improve, constantly pursue more education, are patient, and SAVE their money.

Do good things - it will pay off in the long run!

FYI....I started my career as an E1 (27+ years ago). I have a son who is an E4 and daughter who is an E2 - I gave them the same advice.

Good solid advice, but you and I both know the majority of the kids in the military are stupid with their money at first. I know I was, and as a supervisor down the road, I saw it again later with the younger troops. E1-E5 don't make crap and when you are young, away from mom and dad and surrounded by alcohol-driven peer pressure, saving every penny for a $38k car is the furthest thing on your mind.

The Honor and Valor package isn't just for those who serve, but is for anyone to honor those who do.

Not to mention...people in the military aren't the only ones who start off making very little. So does everyone else, typically. The sad part is those who serve deserve so much more.

Re: 2012 camaro pricing released!

I'm possibly in the market for a 45th anniversary model. I'm a little confused on the package details. To actually add the package do you need to only add H45 or would it be both RPO H45 and WRS?? There is a pretty big difference here as it would double in added option price if both RPO's are needed.

H45 is the 45th package, WRS is the RS packages, why would you add that also?

It's a little decieving because the H45 option supposedly comes with the Halo's and everything but I'd have a hard time believing that for an extra 25 dollars you get the 45th aniversary package seeing as though the interior is practically custom compared to the rest of the lineup.

H45 price on a 2SS = $1375
WRS price on a 2SS = $1350

So, my assumption would be that you'd have to add the RS package if you are wanting the 45th Anniversary. Otherwise GM is only getting 25 dollars for a totally custom interior, special stripes and special color paint. Doesn't sound to profitable to me.

According to the current order guide H45 is all you need. In fact it states that the two packages can't be ordered together (due to overlapping/conflicting content). I don't think vinyl decals, stitching and the paint likely cost them much. Also consider that the RS package is likely a cash cow for them at $1350. But yes, it sounds like a deal to me. Hope you pick one up.

This is true, I'd also imagine the RS package is not anywhere near the 1350 it is priced at. Well, that's good to know, maybe I'm one step closer to it, we will see!

Re: 2012 camaro pricing released!

Keep in mind H45 comes in one color option (interior/exterior) and one stripe option; while the RS package can come in any color combination and with any stripe package. Thus its theoretically cheaper to build the H45 regardless of the actual trim pieces involved.
