2008 Camaro: So what's the word on the street?

I have heard a lot of people are getting ready to buy the new Camaro. I hear this first-hand from people I have never talked cars to before. It seems there are a lot of people ready to ditch the Stationwagonesque SUVs for a fun car. People are really impressed with the concept they saw at the auto show. What are you hearing?

I'd say it's because there are countless threads here about speculation on when the Camaro might be coming out as well as impressions on the concept.

Ok guys, this section of the forum has grown a tad bit elitist, I've noticed. If you could just read the post, you'd see that he's not asking when it's coming out or anything like that, he's asking what we have heard people say about it in the real world, such as people outside your circle of car-guy friends. It's a fairly valid discussion that hasn't been brough up quite as specifically as he has just now in the thread. Cut the noob bashing to a minimum.

The car needs more exposure for more people to hear about it before it even comes out....hence the Transformers movie.

Well, given the perspective on the question, I will say that I have shown a lot of people pictures of the car, and most of them really like it. My grandpa absolutely loves the car as well as most of my family. I've got a lot of friends that aren't necessarily chevy fans but like the way the car looks. So as far as I can tell, most people I know like it.

Re: 2008 Camaro: So what's the word on the street?

Most people I've shown pictures to have really liked it. Many that really didn't like the Camaro's since the 70's have said this is the first one they've liked in years.

My father says the more he sees it the more he likes it.

He JUST bought himself a 2006 Eclipse as a weekend car and was planning on keeping it for quite a few years to come, but...

About the time the Camaro is released (assuming it's in the next 3 years) is the same time he'll be retiring from his 25 years with the NJ Dept of Corrections. He's planning on one as a retirement gift to himself.

I've already informed him he'd better not get it before I have mine!

Now to just get thru my remaining 19 years with the DOC...

Everyone I have shown it to here at the embassy love it. The Slovenes aren't too happy with it though, mainly because it will never come here.

I keep the poster from Atlanta in my living room (yeah, im single, lol) and everyone really really loves it and asks if that is going to be the new one and when it comes back. About everyone so far makes the comment that they need to start saving up today, lol.

I think many people's post counts are so high due to noob bashing.

I very rarely post, just read...

Not to hijack the thread, but I agree... Look at my post count and then the join date...Am I a noob too?

But back on the subject...I have the Concept as a desktop picture at work, and people seem to like it.
