04-06 GTO Similarities ??

maybe it is just me but I see many 04-06 GTO charateristics. Anyone else?

1) Foglights
2) Lower front fascia
3) Exhaust Fascia
4) rear windows , third break light
5) vehicle weight, actually 200lbs more and everyone bitched about that.
6) SAP KITS FOR SURE
7) the roundness of the interior
8) inside door handles
9) the stiching on the leather

Not saying it is good or bad just saying I can see Holden's influence a great deal.

No doubt many of the engineers working on Camaro worked on Monaro too... but that being said... design was Tom Peter's baby all the way.

how could the best-of the GTO not influence the Camaro? For me, I don't remember the first time i saw the GTO, but I can sure as heck remember the first time i sat in that interior and saw the stitching/attention to detail.

Personally, I think you just came from an all night bender or are perhaps a were little too.......no..... make that incredibly bored to see all the items you mentioned and imply that it's the same characteristic as on the GTO.

Foglights? SN95 Cobras have round foglights located in the same spot. I can probably name half dozen other cars off the top of my head.

Lower front facia? Well, it's also identical to a GT500 with the opening turned upside down.

Rear facia? There's no comparason unless you mean that a portion is paintd black... like the SN95 Mustangs, various BMWs, and again, half dozen other cars I can probably name off the top of my head. If you take the time to look closely, you'll see that Camaro's is sculptured with fins, while GTOs is basically rounded, painted, and has "GTO" stamped on it. About as similar as Catherine Zeta Jones and Barnum's bearded lady. Both are probably really nice, but you'd never think one looks like the other. Rear windows? I suppose they look the same if someone jammed forks in your eyes followed by hitting you in the face with a two-by-four...... really, really hard:

Vehicle weight? Well, it also weighs about as much as an Impala SS, a Ford Taurus, and a BMW 528 sedan. But since thers's a 200 pound difference betyween the GTO and the Camaro, then that's a similarity worth mentioning???.... Uh huh.

Roundness of the interior? I'd probably see alot of roundness in the interior of a strip club, but it wouldn't occur to be that it had anything to do with a GTO... or anything with 4 wheels for that matter. The design isn't even close to being similar:

Door handles? I can probably find another half dozen GM door handles that are similar. Just like I can find you many GM cars that between them have the same radio, exterior door handles, HVAC controls, and other item from the same parts bin. I can go over to other brands and find parts that are similar between them as well. Is this really new or unique? Nope.

Stitching of leather? Yes. And both cars have 4 wheels, a V8 engine, seat 4 people, and have a trunk too. Hell, Cadillac and the GT500 also have leather stitiched a similar way. So does BMW and Audi, if I remember correctly. I suspect that's the way to stitch leather in car interiors.

Careful....This is how those off-the-wall internet rumors get started.

There's thread going on here where someone is seeing a conspiracy regarding GM and cars with a 112" wheebase you might want to get in on.
