They kinda look like modified 85-87 IROC rims. They did good work on those. I'm hoping the Z28 gets it's name inside it's wheels also.

Exhaust – ZL1 is equipped with a dual-mode exhaust system, which alters the sound level and character in response to engine rpm. First used on the legendary Corvette, and specifically tuned for Camaro ZL1, the dual-mode exhaust will give the car a signature sound.
Re: 2012 Camaro ZL1 Image Released!
Imagine every Camaro fan suddenly grabbing the remote and forcing everyone to watch it again and again. Who cares what Danica is wearing anyway.
Re: 2012 Camaro ZL1 Image Released!
man what a bad *** car. I love the hood, and the rims. Id actually prefer my hotrod to NOT have all that crap on the inside. I like the seats/strg wheel but dont want nav, or heated seats, or backup camera's. save that stuff for the daily drivers. or make it an option atleast. also glad to hear they there goin to upgrade the rest of the drivetrain with the power.

It's not GM's job to give you an engine capable of handling 200 more hp than what they gave you from the factory. Their job is to give you an engine capable of lasting 150k miles with you beating on it and they will. If you want really strong internals there is the GT500 that way you can brag about making 750hp and run the identical times as the stock model or you can add forged to the LSA on your dime and not add the cost of it to everyone else that doesn't need it.
Re: * * * 2012 Camaro ZL1 Images and Specs Released! * * *
I want to agree in a way, but then I think the piston oil squirters (and the rest of the package) more than make up for it. I mean, it doesn't have the LS9 titanium connecting rods either, so how much further do you plan to you push the stock shortblock with those powdered metal rods?
Re: * * * 2012 Camaro ZL1 Images and Specs Released! * * *
that will just shred through tires in the first 3 gears on stock tires.
It has a hard enough time putting down the power with the stock 285s, what do you think turning the HP dial up will do?
In this case though, i'd rather try to address the tire situation, than the internals issue....

It doesn't matter to me since I won't be buying one so i don't care that much (got a Z06 on my mind), but really how many people rebuild their smallblock V8s and put forged pistons back in it in a N/A application while reusing the same factory crank and rods?
I would think it would be like added security to your motor in case it somehow got filled with 87 octane on a hot day
I would suspect stronger internals would strengthen sales too but whom am I to say really. Either way its about time Chevy is offering a blown Camaro.
Stock1SC - I would think the price difference between a hyper and a forged piston in a mass production order would be insignificant?
ws6transam - only if it poked me while I was taking her dress off
95 Z/28 LT1 - I probably wouldn't push it until i paid the car off but I'm sure someone will argue that its 'all in the tune'
Jason - I got that from the specs on the start of this post.

Hey all, I'm new hear but will definitely be posting around. I'm toying with the idea of a new car, and when I heard about the ZL1, I had to join a community of Camaro guys
I am really loving this car. I had my mind set on a Z06, but the look of this is really making me think twice. I'm not saying I think the ZL1 will out perform a Z06, I know it wont, but it seems like it'll be pretty damn close and a bit more practical for daily use.
There are 2 details I'm waiting on that may make or break this deal for me. One is the weight of the car. The CTS-V has enormous power but is WAAAY to heavy for me to even consider it. The second thing is it's tested 1/4 mile time. My hope is if the CTS-V runs low 12's, that this will tap into the 11's, hopefully touching upon 120mph. I know my hopes may be kind of high, but I think if this thing weighs a good amount less than the CTS-V, and has a little bit more of an aggressive factory tune, I think it'll be able to pull this off.
I have these personal requirments because I currently own a cammed Pontiac G8 GT that is capable of running high 11's with the right tire. The car is a blast to drive, and now that it is time to sell, I don't want a "down-grade." I want to be at the very least at the same level I'm at now, with a factory stock car. And so far I think this car will look VERY VERY good in my driveway
