Sunroof possibility?

If the dual bubble roof of the concept makes it to the production car, will it even be possible to install an aftermarket power sunroof? I think the roof needs to be pretty flat for a sunroof. Any aftermarket sunroof installers reading this?

I think that was the supplier for a factory sunroof glass, not an aftermarket one.

I didnt see that thread. It looks like the production car will get a flat roof and a sunroof will be available from the factory.

I hope not. The reverse mohawk is one of the best exterior design keys.

There is always the possibility of two roofs, one for a sunroof (no channel) and one for no sunroof (with channel).

Let me put it another way...

In the crappy leaked cell phone pic...there is a channel. And I am pretty confident that a sunroof will be offered.

I don't see why everyone is so sure you can't have the 'reverse mohawk' AND the sunroof. I'm sure they can mold something to work just fine.

Besides that 'mohawk' isn't THAT deep. The outter part of the sunroof (the non glass part) could just be molded to mimic the lines.

Use a little imagination...

A power sunroof has to be flat to slide back on the track when it is open, unless it slides back on top of the roof and is visable when open. I just dont see GM spending the money for 2 different shaped roofs, depending on the sunroof option or not.

The glass has to be flat to slide back, yes. But the 'housing/molding' doesn't have to be. So long as it can slide straight back, the housing can be molded in any way.

The production car pic released by GM clearly shows a sunroof...

Hopefully that is just an option and the reverse mohawk roof is still available. I have no desire for a sunroof, but I can see where it could be an additional selling point...especially in the V6 cars. Women typically like sunroofs.

I don't see why the glass can't conform to the shape of the roof if it's going to recess into the same shaped roof.

I bet its a cost thing, but thats got to be the only reason. it would be fairly simple to mold the glass for that contour.
