[Interior] sunroof option
[QUOTE=copboy736;4340376] Most people believe there will not be a sunroof because of the style of the roof. They say the same thing for T-Tops.[QUOTE]
now i know the style of roof pretty much kills the idea of of a targa or t-tops, but what doesnt allow them to have a sunroof? i personally want a sunroof because i think its the only option for a open air feel other than a vert (which i dont want) that can be offered. My current car is a hardtop, and im always wishing i could take off some t-tops or open a sunroof or something.

But the 3rd and 4th gens were hatchbacks whereas the 5th gen is not. You can't really compare what looks good on a 3rd or 4th gen with what may or may not look good on a 5th gen. The lines are just completely different.
I just stumbled into this section of the site and some of the posts about options and interior themes and whatnot and I immediately asked 'what about t-tops?'.
I can't believe what I'm reading so far. T-tops have been on Camaros since the 70's. I think t-tops are one of the coolest things about fbodies. It keeps the lines of the coupe, but giving you the feel of a convertible. Something that moonroofs and sunroofs can't create. We all know this. But why aren't they incorporated into the design from the beginning? Because they weren't on the original Camaro? So they shouldn't be on this camaro? CD player and IRS wasn't on the original either? Nor were massive 19" wheels and tires? Either was fuel injection?
/End rant.

I like to have a sunroof, I like t tops but i hear bad things about them after awhile and they cant put them on this car. I dont like a convertable i like to have a hardtop conv. but i dont have a extra 10,000 for that option.
I had an 82 Z28 with a sunroof
i liked it, but like they said its hard to compare the third gen looks (hatchback) to the 5th gen. I think it'd look good though. --- Maybe they could smooth the roof out???? i think that would look better anyway.

After owning/driving cars with t-tops, sun roofs and rag-tops I would personally vote hard for a sun roof.
The reason is the t-tops are a pain to take out and stow compared to a sun roof. I really enjoy the convertable, but some folks do not want the increased noise and decreased cargo space involved with a rag top.
If you don't care for a rag-top or don't want to drop the $$$$ for one, a large well integrated sunroof is the best of all worlds in real-world driving IMHO.

Here is my 1994 with a aftermarket sunroof that was dealer installed . i just happen to be replacing it this is the old one , iam buying a new whole drop in unit . heres some pics .

i droped the headliner and sun shade , and seen thats its very easy to replace . its a hoolinda 3100 eletric spolier sunroof .
the back lifts up and slids back and looks like a 2nd spoiler , ill post a pic when i replace it .
spl, yours is the second 4th gen that i've seen with a sunroof. I have always wanted more pictures, like what you posted. Where do you order the kit from and is it meant for our cars? or is it a universal? Hows it affect the structure not having the middle support bar and any flex in the roof panel since its smc? or does it mount to the side supports? What all does the kit come with and what do you have to fabricate yourself? sorry not tryin to hijack the thread. Just thought it would be different for my 94 hardtop instead of cuttin it out for a t top.
edit-- haha jus seen your sig, looks like we have bout the same cars too, 94 z28 and 95 3.4 thats crazy

While I still would prefer TTops on my new Camaro, a sunroof would be 'ok', but ONLY if it takes up nearly the entire roof area.
That, imo, is the only reason the sunroof in the pics above works. It takes up nearly the entire roof from side to side, with only some roof left in the rear.
If they can put a HUGE sunroof in the 5th Gen that can pop up, or slide back like the G6's multipanel sunroof I could be convinced (sorry, but I can't stand the way a traditional sunroof that slides up and back looks. the 'spoiler' look you describe looks horrible to me.). But that's the only way.

iwas ordered from the dealership . they subed it out to a local south florida sunroof company , that put this units in other gm cars . they did cut the center brace and the hatch has some squeks in it , but i bet SFC would fix that .
it broke again so i called a local sunroof place where i live now . and they said they had a replacemt that i could replace it with the same one and he said its still the same sunroof the new 2006 gm monto carlo sunroof come with .
the head liner has a built in sliding sun shade that slides into the headliner . and looks sweet . i can take pics of it but its out of the car . i want to replace it very soon ill post pics of it in the day light and opened up and stuff .
Want it open? buy a convertible.
I don't like sunroofs, they only add weight in the highest point of the car and with time they leak. I wish I could swap the t-tops on my 4th. gen for a solid top (I bought the interior factory t-top shades so at least from inside it looks like a solid roof and it stays cooler).
