safety switch

Is there a way to disable or bypass the clutch safety switch so the clutch doesn't have to be depressed in order to start the car?

Re: safety switch

I am sure it can be done but I don't know how. Curious...why would you want to? For a remote starter?

Re: safety switch

That, and so its not necessary to get in, sit down, engage clutch just to start it. I don't drive it until I let the engine warm up & it would be nice to simply open the door and turn the ignition and let it warm up while I do something else...simply a step saver.

Re: safety switch

I think the effort to make that happen is more than just pushing in the clutch. It is more of a safety factor than anything, though.

I am sure that it can be done...ask a car stereo shop that installs remote start system.

Re: safety switch

You're right about the safety issue. I fully understand why GM did it and it's a great idea for someone who has their head somewhere else. I never park the car though that I don't take it out of gear and apply the parking brake...even when I'm in a hurry. I can't stand for the weight of the car to rest against an engaged transmission while parked.
