Sorry, don't buy the "just wait", or "deal with it" argument. Now, admittedly, for those of us who want HUD (had it on my 04 GTP, loved it!) AND a Camaro, we really don't have much choice (some may buy a Challenger, and while I wouldn't rule out the Challenger, not having HUD isn't reason enough to buy one). What pisses me off, personally, is that it is a feature I fully expected (yes I know it was never promised one way or another, but I REALLY did expect it) and now yet another summer will go by if I wait for it, or I buy now(Spring/Summer '09) and don't get what I consider to be a very good item.

If you honestly believe that then you are very thick. I can tell you that GM wants it as bad or more than you guys. As Jason previously stated there are obstacles in having it available at launch. It is not some devious plan to prolong interest or spread out sales or whatever else you can think of.

I don't blame you for being wary of GM's tactics especially with the way they got off track in the 90's and early 2000's but this is a new GM. Unfortunately they are in a cash crunch because of some of their former practices. Not to mention the bias in the media that causes an immeasurable amount of harm to domestic manufacturers. Trust me when I tell you that the whole Camaro team is in touch with what enthusiasts want. Who else brings in 15 enthusiasts to drive the car and give them feedback? The whole team loves this car and is doing everything they can to make it a success. There are no tricks or sneaky plans with this car. There doesn't have to be. There is one overriding goal: make it the best car possible.

If NAV is the biggest change GM does after the first year with the Camaro it will be a miracle.
In the past the first year always had a bastard PCM and/or lower HP and/or even a different engine. I would be more concerned with waiting for that reason not a NAV.

Seriously. Having HUD would be a neat discriminating feature to have in all the camaro vs XXX magazine articles that are soon to come out. As somebody said in another thread, no NAV in a 21st century supposedly modern sports car is bad enough, but something like HUD would at least give the geeks and toyfreaks something to be happy about.

I don’t know what the reason is, but they shouldn't have teased us with the video. I didn't care about the HUD option because I thought they wasn't going to implement in the Camaro , but once they showed it in the video and said it would be release until 12/09 It reminded me many years ago when I was just a child and my mom took me to Toys'R'Us and didn't buy me anything.

I'm going to attempt not to take that personally (although being accused of being an idiot makes it a little hard). Note that I said "probably". Just a guess. Like you said, it wouldn't be the first time.

GM will have to wait then to get my hard earned cash.... I've driven around in my friends corvette, and that HUD is just awesome. Wouldn't want my camaro without one.

now if you thought about that for a moment... it does give you a clue as to how recently the "no HUD until....." situation might have happened.

Lets see... I'm having a video made to promote a product. Let's put stuff in it we know wont be available. Yeah, thats a good idea.

In short -- I won't buy a 5th gen without HUD. I've driven some cars with it, and it is downright awesome. I will get that option on every car I ever buy from now on, if it's available. The fact that it will eventually be available on Camaro is enough to make me wait.

However, I also won't be in financial shape to buy a 5th gen at all before December of next year, so I'd be waiting regardless.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind waiting until December but for some reason this just doesn't make sense to me. I work in the Marketing department for my company and it doesn't make sense to advertise a product, show features/options for the product, then reveal that you won't be able to get a couple of the features/options shown until 9 months after official launch date.

If you're going to do that, then you might as well show us pictures of the Z28 because that won't be available when the 5th Gen first comes out either. Everything we saw in the video we can get when the 5th Gen first comes out EXCEPT for HUD.

HUD is practically a must have in sports cars. I may just be a novice but I know that when I test drove my friends GT a year ago, I was speeding without even knowing. I wasn't even trying to gun it. And that was only 300 horses! Now you're gonna give the average joe (or josie) an opportunity to get an affordable 400 hp car and he/she can't get HUD until 12/09? 9 months after launch?

Yea they may have money issues and all that but the bottom line is, people have been ranting and raving about HUD since rumors started in 2006 and everybody knows GM saw all the rumors and speculations (which is why we have that awesome interior lighting package). And it's not like HUD is new. My friend's mom has a 5 year old Buick that has HUD in it. A BUICK!

Come on GM....don't do us like that.

I'm waiting for the HUD too. To me it is a really important feature - I love it on my Grand Prix - and it will set the Camaro apart from its competitors.

I was really excited to see hud and really want it. Now I will not have it on my camaro. I had the purchase of this camaro in the works for a while. i need a car when my 4th gen was on critical so I leased a car for 27 months (thinking I am timing it perfect). Wich I did. Know one of the coolest options on the car I will not have. Sure I could wait and drive my 4th gen but I don't want to put more miles on it, plus sit here at work watching other people drive away with the car I want while I sit on my hands waiting to get my car with hud. I guess I will just go with out it.
Unless gm says ok lets just put it in know!
One can always hope....... or keep the faith!

I really really hope they bump avaliability up to initial production, and though it will not keep me from buying this car, it would be an awesome feature to have. Despite the fact GM is in a "money crunch", the cost of offering this HUD would surely be worth it, as it seems like tons of people want it, and it may be the deciding factor in the purchase of this vehicle for some.

Most likely cause is from parts suppliers and not GM.
