In places where it is required by law they have to send the bracket to the dealer who puts them on. In my case I live in one of those states (Texas) who has to have both front and back plates. I told him NOT to drill in the bumper when they get it and I will put it in the front window with a pair of gloves under it holding it up.

I live in IL and two plates are required. I told the dealer not to install it and he told me it usually comes in the trunk in a plastic bag. He also told me that a lot of people who order vettes don't want it on either and I'll have to sign a waiver saying that I will intall a front plate braket and the dealer is not liable.

I was wondering if they'd do that. I might have to try it. The little dealer emblem is something else I WILL NOT do on a car I order. If it were on the lot already, OK. I don't advertise for free generally.

Of course, getting them to follow instructions might be another matter.

Doesnt HAVE to be the front most part of the car.. just has to be visible from the front. It can be in the front window in most cases, and that lower grille would also be fine assuming it doesnt cause air flow issues.

Yeah. I just bought a DD (grand prix..loaded) and when the salesman came with a drill and a front license (no bracket) I told him he could use the the drill for his head. He walked away and gave me the front license. Its still in the back seat 8 months later.

Re: Front license plate bracket??

I don't know if that is the final location but after looking at it, I can't imagine of a superior way to do it. Then again, I am no car designer.

I know that people who buy cars with holes in the top bumper but don't want a plate there buy a pair of little Smoothoocks and use them to safely cover the holes.

Thanks for mentioning, not a lot of people know about using SmoothLocks for this, as well as spoiler removal, etc.

Re: Front license plate bracket??

I live in a state that requires a front license plate. I ordered this plastic piece of crap from the dealer and it didn't come with any mounting hardware or instructions. I really don't want to drill holes in my bumper. any help?
