Camaro Convertible being built
Camaro Convertible being built
Has anyone else seen this? The September 06 issue of GM Hightech Performance on the "Off the Wire" page, a letter starts:
"In May, I had the privilege of attending a paid educational program at GM Warren Tech Center. I saw firsthand the new Camaro convertible being built."
The rest of the letter goes on to say that he understands the new Camaro will be built in Australia and not the USA and being a member of the UAW...blah blah- America is great build it here.
Do we have confirmation on a convertible as well?

Well, one could guess that there might be a convertible concept being prepared for NAIAS coming up in 5 months?
My money is on the convertible not showing up in any form, until after the coupe is in showrooms.

The whole safety thing Scott has been touting makes me wonder about the convertible. Will it have to fit the rule of max ratings in all safety tests or does that just apply to the basic design?
Re: Camaro Convertible being built
I just hope the camaros interior is not cheap plastic one. I seriously hope they pay attention to the car in every detail. Mind you though, even the new C6 corvettes have cheap interior.

I just love it when people claiming to be a legitimate source, let alone a mass distributed source of print, spread nonsense when even the most uninformed person I work with was aware of the Camaro returning and being built in Ontario.

Lemme guess, a car that cost twice as much and offers half the performance? GM doesen't seem to be having too much trouble getting rid of them.

Let's all take a deep breath and recall this was a *reader's letter*. Jeez. Calm down. Anyway, GMHTP is way better than other mags out there when it comes to tech articles - their engine buildup articles of late have become quite in-depth and they have Dave Vizard writing for them too (as does PHR).
