Is the 2011 Camaro to get the full ambient lighting for the doors and dash?

Wasn't there a legal reason that they did not do it on the 2010?

 

i dont think it was a legal reason. i think they just had a hard time executing it. i think it was too bright.

 

I believe it had inconsistent brightness as well...sorta wavy.

 

Has anyone seen the Buick Regal side-step inserts that light up on the website?? Looks freakin cool. Wonder if the Camaros will get them soon.

I'm pretty sure that was a legal/safety decision. If they ran the ambient lighting across the dash there would be a good chance that light would reflect off the windshield at night causing visibility problems for the driver.

 

Nope, the CTS has something similar so it is not a problem, and where the light pipe would be I don't think it could reflect on the windshield.

Anyone know who may be able to fabricate those, or if they exist, for the Camaro? Not too ricey, if it's done tastefully with the ambient lighting in the Camaro...

 

The recent Mustangs have it.

 

It was a marketing problem, We cant put it in a 30K+ car if we have it in a 65K+ car.

But you can add it to your car.

 

You know... Looking at those, looking at the ABL-dash lighting projects and the like... I'm thinking that when finances are a little better, I could try my hand at making something like these...

Covered with a bit of clear resin for protection and wired into the same circuit as the interior lighting that comes on when the door is opened. Glowing red or blue to match the ambient lighting. Anyone ambitious enough with some money care to try?
