09 with hide aways
Yeah, another photoshop. As much as I hate to say it, hideaways as we knew them might not be possible. I'm sure that GM has something up its sleeve to get hideaways on it but... We'll see if it happens.
The whole popup headlights thing I could find is this little tidbit??
so maybee popups are not allowed but inside fender or bumpers?? Maybee?
Would like to find out. That photoshop looks amazing and if GM could pull that off with the headlight covers. WOW
recent Regulations contain stringent standards regarding protuberances on car bodies, in an effort to minimize injury to pedestrians struck by cars.

The only way it would be a federal law is if it states that any automanufacturer can not include a set-up that is at one point covered in some way. The Federal wouldn't have any jurisdiction to mandiate how you can or can't modify your car. It is like window tinting, or lifting a truck... all varys by state.
That picture obviously leads you to believe the car is using LED headlights. Which haven't been perfected just yet, but if they were I dont see why a setup like the one above would be restricted...
The grill pieces aren't obstructing the light because the light is being generated by LEDs which are totally between the pieces... Hell I dont see why you coudln't design a narrow rectangular casing like a Hella FF75 to go in between the vents that would sove the problem the same way.
Anyway, from the factory all thats unlikely, but Im sure the aftermarket will have something out.

Like this other snippet I found
Due to a new car design rule from SAE (The Society of Automotive Engineers), the pop-up headlights had to be removed
