NT05R vs. MT 3743R
I am trying to pick out a rear tire for my car. It is a weekend toy, driven mostly warm weather, don't drive in the rain when I can help it. no real track time just street warrior.
275/40/17
SLP speed line wheels 17x9
Help me pick... All suggestions are welcome.

Re: NT05R vs. MT 3743R
I was thinking about getting the NT05 (not R). Its hard to find very many reviews on these tires, i think because they are fairly new. Im afraid to run the "R" on the street for fear of hitting rain. I dont ever drive the car on purpose in rain but sometimes i hit it on a trip etc. I have heard nothing but good about the 555R and i think the NT05R is just a updated version

Re: NT05R vs. MT 3743R
So ive been reading about tires all day. The 555r is better for rain, will get about 15k miles on them and cut around 1.8 60ft's. The NT05r is better at the track, people are cutting 1.6 - 1.7 on 60ft's on them but sacrafice wet driveability. I see people getting aroung 10k on them. People are saying they are using them if they get stuck in the rain and are ok. Obviously I would not run either tire as a DD but i think either could be ran as a weekend warrior just take it easy in the rain. Anyone who drives like a maniac with a sports car in the rain is asking for trouble anyway. Im considering the NT05R in a 17/35/315. I wonder if they will fit.

Re: NT05R vs. MT 3743R
My wife just gave me a reciept from 'shmishmount" tire, including heat cycling, as a gift for my birthday. Turns out one of my buddies did some recon for her, and he likes MT's. Now I have to pick some fronts...

Re: NT05R vs. MT 3743R
Alright... recap. Got all my tires.
Firestone Firehawk Wide ovals upfront, (yes, I know its cheesy but its a Firehawk)
MT's 3743R outback.
All 275/40/17.
Wow, do new tires make a difference! The old ones were almost 8 years old and mostly dead. I can pretty much dead hook off the line (Good pavement) and let me tell you how much fun that is, no more feathering the throttle out of the hole or playing nice into 2nd. It is a whole new car at this point. I know that my drive line is not going to like all that traction back there, but that is what makes moding cars fun. Maybe looking for a new clutch if I don't take it easy, not to mention the rear end... dam this could get expensive.
