C5 Rims

Re: C5 Rims
A 275/40-18 is larger than the stock diameter, at 26.7". You want a tire diameter to match your stock tires which were either 235/55-16 (26.1") or 245/50-16 (25.7"). A 285/35-18 would be a good choice. If you depart substantially from the stock tire diameter, you have to have the PCM programmed to correct the speedometer.
Your topic indicates "C5 Rims", but your question is about the tire size. What C5 wheels are you looking at? What width and offset? Or do you already have the wheels? In any case, whether the tire will fit will depend on the width of the wheel.

Re: C5 Rims
That's what I'm running. I have Y2ks with the vette offset, Keep your back seat up and do the BFH mod. If you run them for a few days you will see where the hit and then you can beat on the inner wheel well to allieviate the problem. mine don't rub at all now. Keep the back seat in the upright position when you hammer on the wheel well or you wont get your back seat to ever latch again. I read that somewhere.

The rims sizes are: Fronts are 17x8.5" and rears are 18x9.5. Y2K I believe there 5 star polished alloy. Yes, tires are already on rims Goodyear Eagle run flats. Great shape. Hope they fit.
So the biggest concern is the width and not so much the height?

Re: C5 Rims
I run 28" slicks. They are not a problem with regard to height.
The problem with the Y2K 18x9.5" wide wheels is the 65mm offset, which produces a 7.75" backspace, and may cause the inside edge of the tire to rub on the inner fender liner. That's the genesis of post #3. But these cars are extremely variable. I run a 7.94" backspace on my street wheels (17x11 50mm wheel), and had to hammer the inner fenders, cut the edge off the jounce bumper brackets. Others put the same wheels/tires on their car and did not have the same problems. You may not have a problem at all with the 7.75" backspace.
Put them on, and check the inside of the tires for rubbing.
