225/50/16 acceptable on stock Camaro wheels?

These wheels would normally accept a 245/50/16.

I already did a search and didn't find anything specifying this. Thanks.

I think you'll want 225/55/16 to make up for the lost diameter size, otherwise your speedo will be way off.

Why are you wanting to run 225's? I'm not sure I'd want to run 225's on a 8" wide wheel either.

Mine came with 235/55-16, stock size on the Z28- with that tire it was speed limited to 108 MPH, and since it had the stock 2.73 axle (in a performance car?!? Come on, GM!!) it also came with a steel driveshaft. So, if you want to buy a steel LS1 driveshaft, I know where one is available.

Most tire manufacturers recommend a wheel width of 6.0" to 8.0", so you are OK with putting them on the stock 16 x 8.0" wheels. But as already noted, they are about 3/4" too small in diameter, compared to your stock 245/50-16's. That will cause the speedo to read about 3.2% higher than actual speed (indicated 62MPH at a true 60MPH) and every time you drive your car 1,000 miles, the odometer will add 1,032 miles. You could correct this in the PCM.

And you will increase the gap between the tire and the fender by another 3/8", and the car will sit 3/8"closed to the ground.

Use a 225/55-16 as suggested above.
