power steering bypass

i was wondering if anyone has done/heard of this mod. i got a special edition hod rod magazine titled, engines, and it has a project car, a 99 Camaro SS m6. they did some mods to it and gave the hp pickup for every mod. they bought a shorter belt and bypassed the power steering and the driver side idler pulley. this smaller belt knocked off .3 or a second from their car that they already had runnning 11.77's and got it down to 11.47. they listed a belt part number and i went and bought it and TRIED to install it. it was too short. i was wondering if anyone knew of this mod or has done it.

the power steering pulley is pretty big, yea we put the belt on all the pulleys 'cept for the power steering and driver side idler pulley.
