This summer I want to have much better 60's and to do so I am going with a pair of ET's on my old stock rims with the original 245's over inflated on the front. The chrome zr1's with 275's all the way around are just to heavy.

SO, as the topic says, what size fit the stock 16x8's?

Hoosier and M/T both have options in the 16" wheel sizes.

Just depends on your gearing and power. How high do you want to rpm the motor through the traps.

I am using 26x11.5x16 ET Streets on salad shooters. The 60' times are in the 1.5sec range with a "road race" style suspension and an M6. These tires and the salad shooters are a good combo, IMHO.

Call them before you spend your money. I'm a by the book kind of guy when my butt is cruising at over 100 and I don't want problems. The 26" x 11.5" x 16's are recommending a 10" rim. I would be far more inclined to go with the 26" x 10.5" x 16" on the stock salad shooters. Less bulge, flatter footprint, and much closer to spec. Also I would use tubes.

Tubes are recommended. Some guys don't use them and they work fine without from what I can see but, I have seen too many people with flat tires and I don't want to be the guy who has a flat in the staging lanes. Also, tubes make your sidewalls last longer.

 

After looking around I noticed the same thing regarding the 11.5 wanting a 10 inch rim. Thanks for the heads up.

I ran the 26x11.50 16's on my old set of salad shooters. I personally did not like the amount of buldge. The 10.50's on a freinds car actually looked alot better (imo of course) and he never had any problems. (car went low 11's with a stock motor and nitrous only)

I use tubes and rim screws. Looks aren't part of the equation, but they look fine to me.

I am not saying as they are pretty by the way... I am saying the fitment of the tire section to the rim width. Granted i did run the 11.50....

what will fit? plenty of tires will "fit". 26x10.5, 26x11.5, 28x10.5, 28x11.5, etc. what will work better? thats a different question.

your tire tread width is only going to see as much road as your wheel will let it. in other words, if youve got a 8in wide rim with a 12in wide tire, only 8in of that tire is going to be getting a good tread print. if you want to take full advantage of the 12in tire, you get a 12in wheel.

now, that doesnt mean it wont work (putting a 10/11in tire on a 8in rim), it just means that if there were a smaller tire (like a 26x8.5 or 26x9) it would make more sense to just get one of those.

EX- ive got 275/50-15 Nitto DRs on my 15x10 rims. can you make the 275 fit a 8/9in wheel? sure! are you getting the full tread width of the tire to the ground? nope.
