Lightbulb 422ci - What's the secret?

Not to take anything away from you-know-who, but I would like to build a nice 422ci street motor from an LS1 block and not give up an arm or leg doing it. I've heard that sleeves need to be cut and a new crank/rods installed. Can anyone give me the specifics?

Thanks.

Although some here are more than qualified to answer your questions, you'll probably receive much more feedback at LS1Tech.com

Platform specific questions should be posted on the appropiate tech forum... in this case "LS1 Tech". Moving it there......

Yeah you can do it, but it WILL COST A ARM AND A LEG!
$10,000-$15,000 for a aluminum long block.

You can do it a cheap way for a Gen III.

6.0L Iron Block
Bore it .040 over for a 4.040" bore
Put a Lunati (which I'm not a fan of) 4.125" stroker crank in it.

That gives you 423cubes.

That is a cheap way to do it.

Problem is, that the crank is still $2000 at best. The rods and pistons are going to be a min of $1150. A 6.0L new block is $600 I think, but you might as well get a core for that much because the 6.0L heads which are your best choice at that deal are $1100 a core new.

Add all the other stuff in and it's not cheap! But it's not a $2500 Sleaved block, and it's not going to leak as long as the heads are TQed down! (the sleaved blocks are known for that!)

Hit me up on AOL IM or E-mail if you want to talk about it with me.
