Got my 2.5'' Harwood Hood in... and...

More pics in last post!

Laid the stripes out on it. The entire car is getting painted, and were painting both hoods, and both the SS and stock spoiler (LT1 style). Obviously Arctic White w/ Hugger Orange stripes (White pearl and orange pearl in paint as well).

I think it will look sweet!

I was extremly gun shy about buying the hood. My biggest fear is that no matter how we laid the stripes, it might never look good. We threw some tape down, and I dont believe it will be a problem!

just a heads up, make sure you fit the hood on the car before paint, mine had to be trimmed around the wiper arms for clearance. post pics of the finished product! =)

Oh yeah. The entire car has already been disassembled and reassembled twice, and were still in prep work. No primer has even been sprayed yet. The glass guy came out last week and pulled out the rear hatch glass. Still need to strip the rest of the adhesive and clean around those areas.

Probably going to be another 6 weeks or so until its finished. Its been in the shop 3-4 weeks as it stands right now... but its getting done the correct way. Thats something you dont see most people do.

Got most of the pieces in primer today. Ran out, so another gallon was ordered. So far the material costs of this project are at $2200 for paint, hardner, primer, clearcoat, etc. Not counting the costs of the hood, emblems, etc. Picked out the best materials money can buy though.

Hoping to get her back on the road in 2-3 months.

I would have to ask the painter. We went through it all, and I saw the Monte Carlo he put out... WOAH!!!!. I know the Clear Coat alone is $320/gal. We need 2 gallons. 1 coat of clear after the first white goes down. Then once the stripes go down, another 4-5 coats on top of that.

I just cant remember what everything was, and I dont have a copy of the estimate anymore.

The primer, paint, and clear is all BASF and RM Diamont. Its the same stuff Chip Foose uses in all of his paint jobs.

The clear has a flex additive in it... you can hit something, and even if you dent/crack your composit panels, the clear doesnt crack or spiderweb... its some sweet stuff! For a gallon of clear and the hardner to go with it... its around $320/gal.

The shop is a custom paint shop owned by a friend of mine. All he does is custom work on bikes and cars... so he keeps it super clean.
