Kooks LT & Y-Pipe?

So... I've been thinking hard about which long tubes I want to get.

I've come to the conclusion I want the cats in the Y-pipe even though I have a 95.

I've also come to the conclusion that Kooks are pretty well appreciated amongst most things I read.

combine the two "conclusions" and I would say I should get kooks headers and y-pipe

however, before I spend nearly 1800 on some tubes, can anyone give me some good reasons not to?
or why another brand has the advantage of blabla?

Just installed Kooks + catted y-pipe on my '97 6 months ago.... their headers are truly a work of art.

I had a set of mac shorties on my '94, and there is no comparison to the quality between the kooks and the macs. You wont be disappointed with the fit & finish of the kooks.

do they effect clearance?
you're lowered?

They "suck up" under the car REALLY well - better than my macs did on my '94. The only clearance issues I have with my car are from the cross member on my spohn torque arm - its bent to allow clearance for longtube y-pipes.

The car is lowered (coil overs on all 4 corners), but I dont have any issues with the exhaust - though, I would never attempt a speed bump with it =D

anyone, have different feeling with regard to coatings?

I've read some places that SS headers does not need to be coated?

is this true?

I didn't get mine coated and my engine bay gets pretty hot. The next time I have the engine out, I will definitely have the headers coated. As for the quality, Kooks are really nice and gave me much more ground clearance than my LT Hookers.

thanks... I think i'm getting the 2000 satin black coating than... seems to be a nice shine to them, yet not overly obnoxious about being after market(blue or red)

I may have a few pictures on my computer at home, but I'm not certain. The finish isn't shiny & smooth like the regular Sterling finish. It's kind of a dull silver, and it's textured. The regular Sterling finish does look like chrome. I got the Extreme Sterling because I believe it was offered as a free upgrade, and supposedly performs better than the regular Sterling finish.

Here is a link to the album. I think you can view a little bit bigger picture on the host's website if you click the pictures a couple times.

that looks nice...

now I'm tempted to get that color... Its a good contrast between the SS of the y-pipe and the coating on the kooks, I would have thought they were a certain shine until I saw that Y-pipe sitting next to it.

you didn't get you y-pipe coated?

I think that coating looks pretty good. It may not look as nice the regular Sterling, but it's supposedly a little better coating. I also believe it was a free upgrade when I got my headers. I didn't get the y-pipe coated. Most people seemed to think it would be of little benefit.
