AFR Heads and what plugs?

Those of you running a blown motor with AFR heads. What plugs are you using?

I HAD been using the NGK TR6's on my LT1 heads but AFR says that I need a gasket. The TR6's do NOT have a gasket.

When I bought the heads they came with some NGK plugs that DO have a gasket.

The model number is "BCPR6E - 11" and are *gasp* "for imports"

Can anyone give me some idea if these plugs are the right ones to use, and if not, which ones.

Well, I don't know anything about the plugs you mention, but I use Autolite 3923's with my 190's. They are three ranges colder than the "normal" heat range, a 3926. They seem to work well for me.

Do you guys running the TR6's have any kind of gasket with them?

NGK sent me an email saying the ones I have would be fine but to gap them to .350 which I was going to do anyway.

no. Don't ever remember seeing a gasket for the TR6 with the AFR heads.

Well it was AFR that said I should have gaskets and they recomended Autolites, but the heads came with these NGK plugs and it looks like they will work.

*shrug*

Thanks for the response guys.

The AFR heads are machined for a gasket seat plug. The area around the threads is machined flat for the gasket to seat. This is common in aftermarket aluminim heads. I use A/C FR3LS, but the Autolite 3924 / 4 / 5's will work.

The stock heads are machined for taper seat plugs. The area around the threads is machined with a taper for the plug to seal against.
