removed pass airbag, now car won't start?

I was pulling apart the interior of my car today, to get rid of a bunch of weight. I'm gonna gut it for racing, so I got started today.

I removed the passenger side airbag, cut the wires for the HVAC blower, and cut the wires for the heat sensor coil thingies in the HVAC ducts.

Now the car wont' start. WHen I turn the key, it acts like the clutch isn't depressed. All the lights/voltage says up, it just won't turn over, and it makes a couple random clicks of solenoids under the hood.

I'd say you might have cut some stuff that you actually needed. I'd go back and check.

Yeah. Regretfully, I agree. I tried to be real careful and only cut HVAC wires, but with all my angry yanking, I might have pulled something loose.

I'm afraid this could be absolute hell to diagnose. THere are 20 miles of wire behind that dash.

No. That light stays out. I've had trouble with it in the past though, but it doesn't seem to be a factor now.

I remember seeing that relay, but not touching it. I'll investigate there.

Can't you tune the VATS out of the ECM? That might be the ticket.

Well, I got it to crank again.

There were two harnesses going to the airbag. I unplugged both of them initially. As it turns out, one of them was a little black box bolted to the airbag, but otherwise unrelated to it.

I plugged in the black mystery box, and BAM! It cranked.

Now I can start it up and figure out why it has a water leak the size of niagra falls in the back of the motor.

I'm guessing that black box was your EBCM.

I know that the big alum box under the airbag was the body control module, or BCM. I don't know what an EBCM is, but whatever I plugged back in, it worked.

BCM, thats what I meant. How did an E get in there? I'm tearing apart a car right now I can understand how destruction-happy you can get.

I don't know if I'm being a retard or not. THis car has been a real demon to me. I'm tearing it apart to make a super, duper cheap autox car. ON the other hand, I'd like to get rid of the burden and make room for my 2010 SS.

A 1994 does not have a BCM. It was probably the VATS module.

Thats what I thought too.

2 related questions:

1. Can you program out the VATS from the PCM?

2. If you can, do you stil need the VATS module connected?
