What do you think of this Alpine amp?
I need an amp to push about 400watts to my 10" L7 solo baric, and was wondering what your opinions on this Alpine amp are?
http://www.uscaraudio.com/catalog/item673.htm
I would like to get an amp within the next week or two, so would this be a good choice or should I keep looking? Thanks btw(its a duel 4 ohm solo baric)

The V-12 line of Alpine amplifiers are very good amps IMO. I'm still using a 7 year old MRV-F300 in my Tahoe.
I wouldn't recommend this amp for what you want to use it for though. It's only rated at 240W RMS @ 4ohms (bridged).Try looking at some of the class D amplifiers that are available instead.
Yeah..... class D.... That's the ticket!

Pony up and spend the extra $170 and get the JL 500/1....Best amp you'll find for $400!

I disagree, for $400 i would rather have a JBL 1200.1 and $120 cash left, Cadence A7HC,Hifonics Z1000D or the Z6000 and $110 cash left, Soundstream Rubicon 502 and $150 cash left, USAcoustics USX800D and $160 cash left, or an Autotec Stealth XS-550.2, and $90 left...... How about a pair of JBL 600.1's? That is the same price as a single 500/1 and EACH one puts out the same power as the 500/1.
Remember more expensive doesn't mean better in all instances.

Well you will not be getting a lot of power from that amp, since it is a dual 4 ohm VC sub and the amp is not 2 ohm mono stable it is not a very good match. I would recommend you look elsewhere. I imagine you want to throw 400-500 watts to that sub, i will have to suggest the MTX 6500D or the JBL 600.1, Hifonics Z6000, The Soundstream Rubicon 501, or 502, The Phoenix Gold XS 2500 (if you can find it).... all these amps are great amps and are stable to the load you need while producing 500-700 watts.

I recall you sayn you had $250 to spend, well I dont think you'll find any amp for that price new, at least not one you'll want. Figure around seventyfive cents to a dollar per watt for a decent amp. So your lookn at $375+ for a new one. I'm not tryn to pawn my so called "Audiobreak" on you, like rthompson says. But I think this amp would be perfect for your needs, and I'm not just sayn this b/c I need to sell it. I'm in no really hurry to sell, but that extra dough would help me get my new wheels and badly needed tires! Just call me if you have any questions, cell# 972-822-1070. Check the specs,

Definately not the one for your application. You need an amp that will give ya lots of power at 2ohm mono. The guys listed quite a few options that would work but you might wanna ask them where to purchase them.

You can get great deals on eBay if you keep your eyes open and are patient. I scored my MTX Thunder 6500D for $250. Brand new and un-opened.

I saw some of the cut downs on your amp. The Audiobahn is a pretty decent amp for bass. I would use it as long as I could get the power out of it I needed. You should tell him what the amp will do at 2 OHM mono. I never take comments to heart, I just say what I know, and if I dont I shut up. Good luck on selling your amp. That was a really good price on the mtx by the way and that amp really rocks.

All I can say is that it would push that lil L7 with no problems. I know this because I've had it hooked up to two of the older solo 15's and it pounded! If it can push those I know it can push that L7.

get either a JBL 600 or 1200. Either would do great. They make awesome amps, and they are very reasonably priced. Both put out more than their rated power...
